One interesting element of Sinbad is that there is no specific target (or kickout hole) needed to achieve the bonus count down during a ball. And, it counts down (and up when hitting drops again), while the player still has the ball in play. Where as other Gottlieb games like Totem, Solar Ride, Count-Down, or Charlie's Angels, a target must be hit or the ball must land in a kickout hole, and then wait for the bonus count down. One other thing about Sinbad is that it is very, very easy to start to lose control of the ball. When the yellow and purple drops are down, the ball can be very difficult to control, if you allow it to get to that point. Best game made, and will always be my favorite.
BTW, you are correct about the 10-bank used in Totem and Sinbad. Joker Poker uses it too.

Fantastic “count it off” payday dance toward the end. Worth the price of entry! Great tutorial. Challenging game

A Bowen tutorial should be a bi weekly necessity.
Any chance you could go back and do some commentary on your gameplay vids if a full reshoot isn't possible?

When the gaming hall opened in the morning we inserted the smallest coin for 1 credit and sometimes managed to play 12 h straight until it closed. Max credit display was limited to 15.

You never watched the movie Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger, Have you...? For a 10 year old in in 77' it was one of the greatest movies of all time. Well that Star Wars thing was going on too. but Star Wars was not a pinball machine yet - Hint: the Columbia Pictures tie in :) Eye of the Tiger is the 2 player version of Sinbad. Sinbad also started life as a EM game then the factory went to SS. All the people and creatures from the move are on the backglass

Sinbad has always been a favourite. The lack of inlanes or slings makes Sinbad a game of snooker where you have to read your lines 3 bounces ahead. Highly recommend getting the Pascal board for this, to get the skill shot, ball save, and ability to collect bonus faster.

cpi23 I always think it is funny when people want to add a skill shot to a game that has a skill shot all ready. You want to drop the ball into the 5000 slot on the plunge with Sinbad.
Like adding a skill shot to Hulk. You want that 2x in the plunge.

Countdown's Pascal rules are pretty nice tbh: the new skill shot is to sink the ball into the top saucer from the plunge without hitting the switches on either side for 10,000, basically requiring a perfect arc swish

Some games I see it being a good add on, but others not so Much. Like my Hulk. The 2x is worth more in the long run than the quick gain of the skill shot. The Sinbad has the 4 lanes - 5000,1000,500,100 - so getting it into the 5000 is the skill shot without rolling it out over the rollovers. Granted the skill shot bonus is larger per the PI-1X4 but it has a skill shot built into the game. On older EM games too that have skill shots built in like my Buccaneer. You need to get that (1) and then after you get it it is still worth 5000. My Strikes and Spares as the skill shot aka hit the center for a strike. The only game that I have that does not have a skill shot is FIREPOWER and that is due to the lane change. I do like the idea of a skill shot on a game like Countdown. I see how that is a fun one. As I normal just pull all the way back and let her fly on Countdown

Great video! We have one at North Star and it's a real favourite. Funny enough, Eye of the Tiger is the identical 2 player EM version of Sinbad.

I passed up the opportunity to buy a mint Eye of the Tiger a few years ago and really regret it. It looks like a really fun game even though the drops don't reset on the EMs.

Great Gottlieb game from this era made in both solid-state and electro-mechanical form. The EM version doesn't have the collect bonus feature, only 2X once all the targets are completed, as the same with Eye of the Tiger, which is the two-player version of the EM Sinbad.

I'm so bad at pinball but love it so much. The more I play it the worse I get. It's the only thing in life that I can't progress on at all.
Well, pinball and dating are the only 2 things in life that I can't progress on at all.

    Hi Bowen
I’m interested in filming a ton of pinball games plays and rules of the games. What program have you been using to show multiple camera angles on your UA-cam videos. Great work keep the videos coming!
    Thanks a bunch

    Thanks Bowen, awesome as usual.
I'm currently putting together a Sinbad kit (prior owner had torn totally apart for restore), and looking at this makes me want to modify the code a bit. what would you think of adding in a spinner bonus like somewhat later gottliebs where if you go through the right inlane it would light the spinner for max points for a few seconds? kind of like on alien star or arena or several others. of course there are no standard inlanes on this so the rollover on the right when lit for 5000 when rolled over would then flash one of the advance lights by the spinner for say 5 seconds which would then score say 10,000 a spin. I'm thinking it would actually give you a reason to hit the spinner other than it just being cool.

You have to be a Patreon backer in order to have Bowen do a pinball tutorial. Also, there won't be any tutorials until the lockdown in Pennsylvania is lifted.

Why do people say "4 X" instead of 4 times? I don't understand man.
