I am training Rest/Pause style again for 3 weeks, I love it. I get very short but intense DOMS (1day max) while maintaining a high energy and motivation level. Previously i did 10x10 training, which completely drains your energy and makes high-intensity, high-frequency training impossible.

Currently doing 4 sets to failure per muscle by my last set of isolation for each muscle I’ll rest 20 seconds and eek out 4-5 more reps so maybe it’s actually 5 sets if I include the rest pause set as a set of effective reps. Basically low volume high intensity training hitting each muscle 1 x week

On the other hand the fast-twitch fibers take longer timer to rest, so after you hit all the fast twtich fibers and the rest pause set goes on, you train in proportion more slow twitch fibers?

According to your other videos, a rest-pause is a high intensificator (beyond failure) and for natural athlete it is better to do only one set in order to not produce cortisol? So, after the activation set, how many mini-sets if advisable? To failure or shy to failure?

Even if its not time efficient, adding another straight set would be more beneficial?

    • @liamhuse6597

You would get the same effect, the same 5 'effective reps'... Except you have to rest a lot longer.

I personally train the way CT is outlining and have been getting great results, all while getting out of the gym quicker or having more time & energy to add in some focused work for medial delts, calves etc.

what about programming these ? 3 straight sets surely don´t equal 3 rest pause ?! and how many attempts should be made each rest pause set ?

When volume is equated, both methods produce similiar gainz

    • @nickvoelker7180

Rest/pause is a single set protocol. Everything you have into that 2-3min block. If you can do a second set, you didn't do the first right. I typically program rest/pause with the initial set at 8 reps, and then shoot for 5 sets of 3 done 15-20secs apart. I progress when I can complete at 5 sets of 3. It's okay to do drop sets too. Sometimes you might be off and not be able to accumulate enough follow on sets for it to be effective. Just drop the weight, continue, and try again the next session. Programming wise, it's best to front load rest/pause work. It is very fatiguing and typically applied to compound lifts. You can search Christian's "Best Damn Workout for Natural Lifters" to see how rest/pause and other low volume training methods are worked into a program.
