Cheers heaps Pete, I've had this problem and was scratching my head on how to over come it. You have saved the day. Great uploads by the way, easy to understand, keep up the great work.
Thanks Pete. Im sure at some point I'll run into this issue. One issue I did run into is I bought a pack of consumables from Amazon and the tips and electrodes were way shorter then the factory ones. Made it more difficult to see the work area past the ceramic cap. Maybe you could do a video on why you need to look for extended length tips lol. Anyways thanks again!
Luv ya work Pete. Using your hack I converted a pilot arc torch onto a non pilot cutting unit by simply running the torch pilot wire to the earth on the face of the machine. Works a treat but still uses the more expensive consumables. Question for you. HOW TO CONVERT A PT31 TORCH ASSY TO PILOT ARC? C'mon know you can do it.
I've found there's also two different sizes of those style of consumables, ordered 90pcs and had to give them to a mate, same machine, same torch on the outside but markedly different size parts inside. Still looking for a good deal on the larger bits, most listings don't have accurate specs on the pieces so it's hard to order with confidence!
@@petestools no, they're completely different sizes between the two torches, one set of consumables is say 20% larger (for my torch ) and most others are the "normal" size. My other plasma uses a completely different style so ill probably look for a torch to match that one so i have two the same or get two torches and change them both. I don't know how to post a photo here or id show the difference. Thanks for the videos, always find something useful in them. Nice one!
Do you ever have a problem where the plasma gets trapped inside the nozzle, on a brand new nozzle, and either doesn't work at all or blows out the side?

Awesome thanks Pete 👍💯🇦🇺🦘🦘
No problem 👍
Great videos pete. Just bought tooliom tl 50c plasma cutter. Manual says tip size for 110 volt. .030. For 220 volt tip size .045. Why is that?
because you can run it hotter on 220
Did you receive your low priced plasma cutter? I didn't receive my unit that I ordered.
Nope was a scam, I got a full refund
cheers pete
Where can I find drag tips for the PT 31 torch? Or standoff attachments. The little wire guard doesn't fit my gun
they dont make them
