I've never seen another blues like this, just stomp your feet, slide and bang on a guitar and sing like you've been trough hell. The first time I listened to Charlie Patton, Big bill broonzy, Blind willie mctell, blind willie johnson and others was truly phenomonal but the first time listening to son house was like something out of this world. That man has seen a thing or two... You can read it from his eyes. god rest his soul.
Thanks for the upload! And thank God for the Internet. We can partake of the major talents which formed the basis for North American rhythm and blues music and achieve a more profound appreciation for the efforts of souls like Son House to share and educate us in their humble ways.
My Gosh! The man put his whole body into it, and I'm not expert medically, but I think he got lightheaded and shaky (blood pressure?). What a treasure and legend. And what an honest, straight-up man. So interesting how he believed there may have been an evil in the reveling in music (or the blues) for it's own sake alone, and how he seemed to feel he needed to justify it by singing about his religion and the Lord after his later-age comeback. Just my interpretation.
Did any man ever sing with more heart and conviction than Son House. This is as blues as it gets.
He's INCREDIBLE for sure! Tons of conviction.

Well Son shot someone and went to prison
Right!
The greatest, imo. No one puts as much emotion into a song. And that voice, he doesn't even need a guitar. Blues personified.
Our souls are recorded several times in the universe as it is in heaven Amen what you do on earth 🌎 shall return to you.
It makes me well to see there are blues lovers who admire and respect these blues men and women..
Son House was one of a kind.
That's just awesome stuff! I love how he talks about the Bible, too!
Son House is the only preacher I will ever listen to.

The final song is just BLISS.
Look at the man's eyes. He can see happiness.
Finally he had an eternal global audience to spread his person gospel testimony.
A national treasure.
Don't look too happy to me
So much musical greatness here, words are not enough!...

And, solving the mystery lordy, lordy, why they used "TV Yellow".
It's a shame most of his recordings were made when he was already pretty old. I would love to hear stuff when he was in his 20s or 30s.

What's the name of that second song?
He may have lost some ability on the guitar over the years, but that voice. Find one more powerful or soulful.
+Jeremy Cline He actually had to re-learn to play the guitar. He had quit playing many years before.
Anyone know what the first song is?

True. An instrument is just an accompaniment
Long term alcoholism.
Lol his guitar is out of tune but he powered through it
Someone knows why black singers always look up in the sky? It's like they hoping on something...
The blues is good, and the teeth are lousy!
:
Devil music? Which was loved and promoted by the same people that brought him Jesus. SMH It was religion that kept us on the plantation so damn long.
