There is SO much to see and do in this, especially after you open the Ocean, I immediately made my days longer. That way I do all my chores early, then refill stamina (you will open that very shortly), then spend the rest of day mining or in ocean or leveling relationships and increasing the town rank.
I’m so glad you’re doing a play through of this game!!! I played the early access, but my laptop is dying and can’t handle the full release, and I’m itching for some good content!!
Sorry to hear about your laptop! The level of detail is really wonderful (and although I'm well above minimum specs it does feel like its pushing things sometimes).
I also very much like the idea regarding evolving mechanics throughout the game and it would definitly make it feel more natural in general. Kind of like what the general theme of Roots of Pachia do as you develop your culture. Sadly this genre needs to evolve as there's a noticeable bloat of copying everything that Stardew did which was a great evolution of earlier sim games. Personally I'm not fond of the dash/jump in Sun Haven but that could be because I keep misjudging ledge jump distances resulting in gravity winning. Also, the language script at about 6minutes strongly resembles a couple used in/around the Indian sub-continent but I'm not familiar enough with any to tell if they use an actual language or just used the letters. If you like that kind of stuff, the Disney film "Atlantis" hired an actual linguist to create the Atlantean language and alphabet which can be learnt! It was based on a lot of older European Romance languages and what we knew at the time of Proto Indo European languages (PIE) which is the reconstructed common ancestor language. Other examples of a con-lang would be Esperanto, Klingon and in the Avatar films.
I agree with dash-jumps in general - I'd rather just walk or run fast all the time and skip this. I did a course on early languages but it was so long ago my brain almost froze trying to access data! I'm always excited when games dig into language.
My guess is that it’s the fact the game is 3Dish but you can’t change the camera angle is what reminds you of old school isometric games. If so, I know exactly what you mean. BTW Am I right in think you’ve no idea how to pronounce my name? :)
That's probably it - the scenery adds a lot of character to the game (it almost is a character) which is something I also associate with those old school games (2d games don't quite feel the same to me). Ha - I would most definitely mispronounce your name! My instinct would be to say Yew because of the LLs (like in Spanish) but I'm guessing it's Welsh so probably does not resemble its spelling at all.
This is a game I'm actually interested in purchasing... when it comes on sale. It's a bit too rich for my meagre budget. I like the graphics style. I love that there is no load screen between areas. I like the large map and the many people to meet. It doesn't have a story (yet), from what I've seen... other than that you've returned to the island for some obscure reason. Maybe someone will mention it as you go along, but it doesn't matter. It's a socializing game with farming as your source of income.... particularly when you first start.
The location has so much character that I really don't mind the overarching narrative (in a ways it's nice to escape it as game narratives in this genre are often so thin).

Save those "wild seeds" ya find for Winter. Until your town levels up, they are the only thing you can plant in Winter besides maybe one other crop.
