    Thank you for this video Shirley. As a young girl my Mexican mother would always speak about coldness entering our bodies through things we ate or did but being raised in the states and going into the medical field, none of this is taught and so I began to think it was only something weird Mexicans believed. However, I have slowly gone back to do my own research about this to realize how true it really is. I really think I have a lot of dampness in my body that has been causing a lot of problems in my body. I am excited to continue to learn what you have to teach.

      Hi @NJ Vanhsy, thanks for sharing your story! I didn't know Mexican culture has similar view of health too! How amazing! I often hear so many stories such as yours. I feel that many ancient wisdoms share many similar observations. While we need science to help us advance, yet it is also important we are not giving away the hundreds of years of wisdom and observations from our ancestors. They don't have to be only one or the other. How do we 'harmonise' the complimentary aspects of each medicine and develop the experience to know when and how to use them for each individual. It is the most idealistic way of healthcare. It is not easy as they are so different. At least we can start learning the simple wisdom in everyday life. This is one of the reasons I started this channel to make something sound so difficult or 'outdated' to grasp easier to understand in a simple language. I'm so happy to hear you are finding the content here valuable for you. It really makes my day ☺️ looking forward to exchange more too☺️

      @@ChineseHerbalPantry Just like you said it, it really is fascinating to me how similar ancient wisdom from around the world really is. My grandma and my mom are/were very interested in Chinese medicine. I still remember when my grandma use to take me to the Chinese market. Now as an adult I enjoy every time I go to China town with my Thai/Lao husband, even tho it is a little overwhelming when I can’t read the labels sometimes but your videos help so much in identifying many ingredients that I wouldn’t have noticed before. Thank you again Shirley ❤️

    Hello Shirley! I’m sooooo happy to found your channel!! It’s hard to find well explained videos by Asians in English (and also written in 漢字. I’m Japanese who is living in America. Easier for me to understand quickly that way!) I can’t wait to watch more vids!! Thank you for your work!!😆🙏❤️

      Hi Kaori, thanks for your kind words! I hear so many stories like yours, who are of Asian backgrounds or anyone who has exposure to Chinese Medicine and are looking for better explained information online. I noticed many immigrants who found it hard to learn from their parents or grandparents due to language/generational barriers, yet really keen to know more about Chinese Medicine. This is the exact reason I started this channel! I wish my small effort will help to keep this traditional wisdom flowing from one generation to the future generation. Keep in touch here or on my other social platforms (Instagram or Facebook) !

    I wonder how it works in tropical countries where there are no 4 seasons, but mostly 2 - rainy and dry, and always hot. Are "Yellow Emperor" advises for all seasons still apply? Or they should be adjusted somehow? Are same WuXing principles apply to the year cycle..?

    • @ChineseHerbalPantry
      @ChineseHerbalPantry  8 місяців тому

      @SergeySHL, 'Yellow Emperor' was written in China, hence it was written for the weather in China. For tropical countries, I usually would follow the local two types of weather, as you mentioned, rainy and dry and make the necessarily adjustment. Having said that, what I see often these days, due to the overuse of air-conditioning in tropical countries, it is not necessarily only use 'cooling' food there. So, it is stil back to TCM core principles of 'individualisation' to the person, to the country and the weather they are experiencing. I hope this makes sense!

      @@ChineseHerbalPantry Totally, thanks for reply! I hope we'll see more "adjusted" to various climates rules and practices, especially considering new climate tech as you mentioned!

    I’m curious about something. What does apply to diabetic type two. Should I consider eating primarily cold, cooling and warming foods as a diabetic? I’m almost always hot 🥵 and dehydrated. I fallow my doctors advice helps some but the increase in water and my diabetic diet is not helping much. Dandelion root, cinnamon, and kosher pickle juice. Seems to help a whole lot more than what my doctors are having me do. So I’m looking for another option.

    What is recommended for after surgery to recover and replenish?

    • @ChineseHerbalPantry
      @ChineseHerbalPantry  3 роки тому +2

      Hi Vanessa, my apology for late reply. Sorry if you or your loved ones have had a surgery. It really depends on the type of surgery. Having said that, generally a person may be depleted from Qi and Blood from surgery, so many nourishing herbal soup will be great. Also, make lots of nourishing rice congee as it is easier to digest and it may help to replenish Qi and Blood and support the digestive system. With rice congee, you can also add some herbs in there to help support. Hope this helps. Take care and thank you for supporting Chinese Herbal Pantry!

      @ChineseHerbalPantry  3 роки тому

      @Hind, why do you think white rice is good for summer heat? Ummm..... I haven't heard of it, not from Chinese medicine perspective. Unless other culture or complementary practice thinks so which I don't have much understanding. But not what I aware of from Chinese medicine.

      Hi @Hind, ummm...... actually, according to Chinese medicine, white rice is actually neutral, not cooling. So, from this perspective, white rice doesn't have cooling effect for summer heat.
