    Symptoms
    In men, hair often begins to recede from the forehead.
    Male-pattern baldness
    Women tend to lose hair along the part.
    Female-pattern baldness
    Patchy hair loss (alopecia areata) is sometimes preceded by itchy or painful scalp.
    Patchy hair loss (alopecia areata)
    Repeated stress on the hair can cause a type of hair loss called traction alopecia.
    Traction alopecia
    t's becoming increasingly common for menopausal women to experience frontal fibrosing alopecia, in which the hairline moves back.
    Frontal fibrosing alopecia
    Hair loss can appear in many different ways, depending on what's causing it. It can come on suddenly or gradually and affect just your scalp or your whole body.
    Signs and symptoms of hair loss may include:
    Gradual thinning on top of head. This is the most common type of hair loss, affecting people as they age. In men, hair often begins to recede at the hairline on the forehead. Women typically have a broadening of the part in their hair. An increasingly common hair loss pattern in older women is a receding hairline (frontal fibrosing alopecia).
    Circular or patchy bald spots. Some people lose hair in circular or patchy bald spots on the scalp, beard or eyebrows. Your skin may become itchy or painful before the hair falls out.
    Sudden loosening of hair. A physical or emotional shock can cause hair to loosen. Handfuls of hair may come out when combing or washing your hair or even after gentle tugging. This type of hair loss usually causes overall hair thinning but is temporary.
    Full-body hair loss. Some conditions and medical treatments, such as chemotherapy for cancer, can result in the loss of hair all over your body. The hair usually grows back.
    Patches of scaling that spread over the scalp. This is a sign of ringworm. It may be accompanied by broken hair, redness, swelling and, at times, oozing.
    When to see a doctor
    See your doctor if you are distressed by persistent hair loss in you or your child and want to pursue treatment. For women who are experiencing a receding hairline (frontal fibrosing alopecia), talk with your doctor about early treatment to avoid significant permanent baldness.
    Also talk to your doctor if you notice sudden or patchy hair loss or more than usual hair loss when combing or washing your or your child's hair. Sudden hair loss can signal an underlying medical condition that requires treatment.
    People typically lose 50 to 100 hairs a day. This usually isn't noticeable because new hair is growing in at the same time. Hair loss occurs when new hair doesn't replace the hair that has fallen out.

    First stumbled across your site while looking for different hair styles for longer hair. Felt I needed a change. All this info for hair systems started popping up.. Not a user....yet... but have a friend who is. Based on things he's said, the advice you are giving is absolutely spot on. The one about a pompadour is especially relevant. So many sights came up with guys getting this style with really short hair on the sides. Never looks real. No hair to blend with. I would think that it is important to have a little length on the sides and back simply for blending purposes to create a natural transition. I was also surprised that the people cutting the unit didn't advise their clients that this wasn't a good look for them. And pulling the hair straight back made the hairline look too harsh. A softer hairline looks much better.

    Dude, this style looks AMAZING on you, this is what I did when I had hair. I got a system from LH but it only lasted me for two weeks, super weird as I got two others did the same routine and those lasted for months. Maybe it would be a good idea for a video. Like how to prevent LH systems to tangle or something, they look amazing but only lasted 2-3 weeks so kind of afraid of getting another one. for $300+ Thanks for all the content. Again this is your best look so far bro, been watching the channel for a long time now.

    THanks for this. great video. Have you made a video on maintenance? My systems still last 4w max. And I think it is because I don't know much about maintenance. My hair falls out after week 3. and becomes dry brittle. And lustreless and super difficult to style. So, clearly, I am not maintaining them. I also use a fair bit of hair putty. And Ive been wearing hair systems (I call them hair units) for over 5 years. So please teach me what I am doing wrong? Have you a video?

    Hey jake I really appreciate ur content,,it s been really helpful and informative ever since I elected this approach for my hair and I started collecting info on the topic..lately I seem to be facing a problem however as I noticed my hair system of only 2 months is starting to dwindle in quality rather quickly..it just feels all off now like really dry,stale and all around lifeless i m really puzzled by the sudden change especially that I was promised at least six months by my hair salon..I don’t currently have the finances to get another system so u could imagine how much of a stocky situation this is ..I was wondering if u could enlighten me about any tips to refresh my current system..I heard boiling could revitalize it but u re the only trusted source I can think of ..I d like to know if that s actually safe to do (again my current system is the only one in my access for now so I wouldn’t want to damage it)..I ll be expecting ur feed back thanks in advance

    So... I'm loosing my hair in the front and the crown, but I'm 40 and the hair loss is subtle luckily. (Well I've been hiding it with Toppik so... i dont think anyone has really noticed.) But i feel like if I'm gonna switch over to a wig then now's likely the time before i start going noticeably bald.
    So... if i commit to a full unit, then do i need to shave my head in order to wear a wig? And if so then do i have to find someone to cut and style it? Also does it come off with sweat? Cause my head sweats a lot when im hot.

    Hi Jake with the thin skin system from lavavid I can still see the edge of thin skin system from the front. Did you notice that when you use thin skin system. I didn’t had this issue with French lace though.

    • @sammmuelspaul1946
      @sammmuelspaul1946 2 роки тому +1

      I’m a Swiss lace guy but if you want to stick with poly my advice to make the edge disappear is you need to have glue on your scalp a tiny bit past the edge of the ploy so that the edge sinks into the glue and disappears. If you only put glue on the poly you can’t do this so do it like you would with the lace and mark the edge and put glue a mm or so past that. Swiss lace is much better imo, poly has more negatives.

    For those new to wanting to get into hairsystems i would just like to add to what Jake stated about growing your back/side hairs make sure you when you do that you use Alpecin Caffeine Shampoo + Alpecin Caffeine Liquid Hair Energizer those 2 worked like wonders for me allowing my natural hair to be more vivid and thicker and overall better growth

      For some reason that's sucks because I'm balding I believe I have Alopecia in I have some missing hair on my sides as well as my top these hair systems should be able to cover your whole head if need be I seen videos for Mickey the barber where some individuals had extremely bad hair loss from Alopecia but she hook them up with a full head of hair so I believe can done I'm just now getting into hair systems but this one I currently got feels and look like I got a cap on my head its cheaply made to me but it was pricey it's a full lace system but I'm going with lord hair thin skin poly next maybe that can give me my desired results while cover my whole head

    Jake let me ask you a question, I recently got a poly unit and I was trying to put the hair system using red tape to start. However every time I put the red tape on my system it does not stick. I called the manufacturer of the system and they say silicone is on the bottom system and use alcohol to get it off. I tried that… does not work. Any other suggestions you can give. Thank you Jake

    I'm thinking about getting a hair system installed - it will be my first time. I'm in my 30's and mostly bald on top. I live in Hawaii and there aren't many providers here. Everything here is expensive, but I just want to ask someone with experience....is $1,600-$1,800 at all reasonable for a hair system installation? That is my estimate after contacting the salon here, and I was told the products are of the highest quality (compared to what I might find online) and could last for 12 months, with maintenance (removing, cleaning, reattaching) every 4 to 6 weeks for $200 each time. I see I can order hair systems online for like $300, so I'm trying to figure out if those are significant different from what the salon is offering (according to them theirs are much better but I just wanted to ask you your thoughts). Are there significantly different levels of quality between hair systems? Thanks a lot for your help :)

      @Aetherius88 2 роки тому +1

      @@2011buddylee Thanks for the input! I was mostly just concerned the salon was trying to rip me off with those prices, but if it's standard then it is what it is....so presumably it costs like 3 times as much to get this done by a professional compared to doing it yourself? And even given the price difference, it's not totally crazy to pay that due to the difficulties of doing it yourself?

    Number 9--- Don't wear a hair system and a full beard together--- ahem! OK Just kidding Jake, but as a woman I notice that every guy who starts losing his hair on top seems to think that he can compensate by growing as much as possible on the face!!??!! WHY? It's not the same thing, and showing you can grow a full beard does not help the look.
    Since I'm a woman, I don't necessarily care whether a guy has a lot of hair or not, and this also means, bald is good, but I don't like the full beard + balding look,
    I don't understand why guys do this but it's true... at least for guys who have been baldish for less than 7 years.. JMHO 😊

    • @JakeKent
      @JakeKent  Рік тому

      hahaha! well kara, i appreciate your opinion... you know what they say about opinions... ;)
      but on a serious note, the reason many guys, if they lose their hair grow out their beard, is to generally look more "masculine" - there can be other reasons, to balance out facial structure, etc. but generally, its to appear more rugged. there's stereotypes of men who shave their head, growing beards, getting big in the gym, and / or adding tattoos. its a look that works.
      but i think its more interesting to look deeper. whats curreently going on. if someone didnt get jacked before the gym, grow a beard before going bald, etc... they are probably dealing with some compensatory behaviors because of losing their hair. its a painful experience, that men dont have a choice in... and one that can't be hidden from society. so ya, they do things to try to fit more masculine molds.
      anyways, i hope that provides some insight. be well!

    Hi Jake, thank you for all the videos you have made. You're the reason i got a Hairsystem! But i have 2 main issues. First my hairline looks shiny and it lifts all the time. And 2nd problem is that my hair is looking super dry even it is 1 week old. My system is a hybrid one with front lace and skin based. I use ghost bond xl. I got 25mm perm and i only use curl cream and leave on spray conditioner on the system and I never blow dry or use any other products. Thank you in advance and also i can send you the link of my hair system from lordhair if it could help you to advice me.

    polly. Especially in summer, front hairline needs to be redone every few days. I find it nearly impossible to wipe off the glue without getting into the hair. I just don’t understand. If you don’t wipe it aggressively enough, the glue will not come off the unit. But, When you do I put aggressively enough, there is no way to not get it into the hair. The way that it has to be held to reinforce…It’s impossible.
