2002 CART Grand Prix of Chicago

The 4th and final CART race at the now defunct Chicago Motor Speedway. Held June 30th, 2002. Interesting feature on how they convert the racetrack back and forth between horse racing and auto racing. The same top 3 finishers from the previous race in Portland repeat here in Chicago.

Was my first indycar race if any kind I really neing hooked after watching it in person and I remember was a good race but very very hot

That shot of the Chicago skyline during the "Summer in the City" intro was taken from I-290, looking east at downtown. The building next to the 290 is the Triangle Office Building at Rush, between Old Route 66 and South Paulina Street.

Thank you sooo much for this! I feel like my life is now more complete. I love this racetrack. This was the missing link of my quest. Thank you greatly! Now if only I can get 2002 Rockingham, my desired CART races to see will be completed.

@TheAntihero6212 This race did match his best career finish of 4th, which he did at Houston 2001.

I remember at the time being really disappointed Da Matta won (pulling for Dario at the time), but looking back now CDM had an amazing run that year, that incident with the deer at Elkhart pretty much ended his career sadly.
