Hi Nuria, so pleased you managed to get the problem with your new book sorted. It is nice to know that even yourself can run into problems with uploading books onto Amazon/KDP. I found this video very helpful from start to finish.
Oh I'm definitely no different from anyone else, we all get the same problems. I'm so glad you found the video helpful, thank you so much for watching and for your comment.
Hi Nuria, thank you for sharing this experience with us, your positivity certainly shone through! I recently wrote a short book on a topic and then tried to make an eBook version for the first time but that was blocked by Amazon for formatting/reflowable text reasons. I tried for hours and days but gave up on making it an eBook. I think they said about images being text at one time too. With lots of people creating these books, I thought it would be easy to do. It was easy on the Lulu platform. Maybe one day I'll try again. I have just archived the blocked book as I got fed up with seeing it on my dashboard!
I'm sorry to hear that, it's so frustrating isn't it. Have you tried creating the ePub file in Kindle Create? That might help, in any case I hope you give it another try.
@@TheHomeBoss I looked up lots of advice and watched a few videos, also trying a docx file on kindle create. There seems to be several different methods that are used, so it was confusing and complicated! I will probably try again when I have plenty of time. The paperback sold a little bit in December, but very quiet this month. Thank you.
Glad it worked out for you. Persistence, patience and staying calm works when facing those sort of obstacles. KDP has very clear rules, but the workers don't always seem well versed in them (and I think at times it's non-native English speaking getting lost in translation!), so hit the ban hammer, block, reject versus solving a problem.
Nuria, I am so glad everything is up and running at last. I'm in a similar situation. I had a book blocked and approved a couple of times since late December. It currently shows live, but the link goes to a nonexistent "Dogs of Amazon" page. 😂 Support has sent me generic we need 5 more days to review this matter emails. But I do believe that kindness, patience and persistence are key. Still hoping my book will be available anytime now. Thank you for sharing your journey! ❤
@Nuria I purchased your book and am inspired by your generous sharing of wisdom! I've been going round and round in circles with KDP also! Their decisions often contradict their published policies and prior "rulings". In the past few days the CHAT HELP feature has not been available. Do you have any suggestions on how to reach them about two issues - a.) blocking a series with no explanation and b.) author copies received with mismatched cover/interior (the ISBN/Manuscript/Cover are perfectly fine on KDP) from Print-On_Demand that took almost 5 weeks to arrive. Any advice is appreciated!
Thank you so much for buying my book, I very much appreciate it. I find that the chat feature is available at certain times in the day, so it will probably depend on which country you are in. See if you can contact them at different times, that might make a difference. I'm sorry to hear you're going round in circles too, in my case I was nearly ready to give up! Keep contacting them, and try the chat feature at different times. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.
I'm glad you got through Amazon's automated circular nonsense. I'm an older man and a new aspiring writer. I have an opposite personality to you and negatively fret over worst case scenarios. I don't think I could've made it through that trial of patience and reason you endured. I will look into your book and journal. It appears it could be a valuable tool for me moving forward. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to share your thoughts! I completely understand how daunting these kinds of situations can feel-especially when it seems like you're going in circles. Patience and persistence are definitely tested in moments like these, but I hope my experience helps show that it's possible to get through them. I truly appreciate your interest in my book and journal, and I hope they can provide some useful insights or tools for your journey. Writing and publishing can be challenging at times, but it’s also incredibly rewarding, and I have no doubt you have what it takes to succeed. Wishing you the very best as you move forward-don’t give up!
Great video! I have the same problem. I have three books blocked. Can you please post the link of the letter, or the template. I should write to Amazon? You would do me a great favor. Thank you very much.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I just published my debut novel and it's exclusively in Amazon. I do plan to go wide distribution and publish in Ingram Spark. My question for you...since IngramSpark also distributes to Amazon, how did you avoid getting a duplicate listing on Amazon? Did Amazon resolve that for you? Thank you so much.
I’ve published my debut novel with both. I used my own ISBN. I published to Ingram first as I didn’t know I could also publish it with Amazon and not be exclusive. As both prints are identical and use the same ISBN, they list together. Amazon tend to prioritise themselves, so order from Amazon are printed by Amazon. But having it with Amazon means they will do discounts and promote it. Whereas having it with Ingram means it can be sold by bookshops and libraries can get a copy.
Inteersting video, thank you for sharing your experience. I've checked out the Amazon page of your book. Did you have the description SEO'ed to reach potential buyers?
I think its not a good idea to publish both Amazon and in other platforms at a time. First WE SHOULD UPLOAD AT AMAZON AND WAIT TILL IT GETS LIVE, ONLY AFTER THAT WE SHOULD UPLOAD IN OTHER PLATFORMS AFTER 1-2 DAYS SO THAT WE CAN PROVE THAT OUR UPLOAD AT AMAZON IS MADE AT THE EARLIEST.
Thank you for sharing this with us. I have written and self-published five books. Only one is on Amazon, and I knew nothing about formatting for Amazon other than putting it into a PDF file and uploading it. Amazon formatted it for me and approved it. I am writing book #6 now and am considering using KDP to publish it. Did Amazon help in promoting your books? Are you happy with the royalties you are getting from Amazon?
Amazon doesn't format the books for you, so your pdf must have been spot on when you uploaded it to Amazon. Congratulations on writing book 6! Amazon doesn't promote your books so you will have to do the marketing but you can run Amazon ads. And yes, I'm very happy with the royalties I get from Amazon. Best of luck!
Thank you for your video can you help me when I publish my book on amazon kdp the display of the cover is not clear a little blurred I can not find a solution while the other books we see the cover and the quality is good Thank you for your help
You have 150 blocked books on your KDP account? Has a KDP support said anything about your account being in danger of getting closed for having hat many blocked books?
With TT up on the air, and if it ends up being blocked, the good news is that the audience will move (which many have) to an app called RedNote -- pivot 😊
This is not confined to KDP. It's everywhere in all business. This is what happens when you no longer employ people and leave everything to computer algorithms. I had a problem with airline tickets that I needed changed yet the web site would not do it. I tried calling and going thru the automated system it told me I needed to do it thru the web site. When I finally got thru to customer service the said 3 hours or I could schedule in a few hours. I called again and instead of customer service I called sales to get thru. Just an ordeal to get anything fixed these days and it will ger worse.
Honestly, how do you get Amazon to reply to your messages because they never replied to mine. I published a kids coloring book and Amazon told me they found the abnormal reading activity and blocked my account immediately. I was so confused and wrote to them countless times, but I got no reply. Can you please help how you get them to reply and unblock your books. Maybe I am doing something wrong
I think the difference is that they blocked your account, it's very difficult to contact them once they do that. What I don't understand is how they found abnormal reading activity? This is normally for eBooks. Did you upload your colouring book as an eBook? That could be the reason they terminated your account.
@TheHomeBoss No I did not upload it as an ebook...was also surprised how the coloring book can have an abnormal reading activity. It's even sad because I didn't receive any notice from them, my account was blocked
@ Keep contacting them through email, it seems strange they didn't send you any emails before they closed your account to warn you. Don't give up, I rally hope you can resolve this.
The Value Of Patience is right! - I had a similar experience several years ago - I published a unique book of Poetry on the Amazon platform ... It wasn't selling really - So I just PAUSED it for several months ... When I went to start it up again - They refused and said it was duplicate content - I couldn't persuade them otherwise - so I gave up - Never AGAIN!! - AARRGGHH!!!!!
I also self-publish through Amazon and have learned that Amazon is a machine, and machines aren't perfect. To bypass are the ridiculous things that the machine catches, you need to speak to an actual person. And yes, the process can be long and frustrating, but if you keep with it you'll eventually learn what the machine accepts and can easily publish your next set of books.
What if your account on amazon was terminated. I delayed in responding to their mail.I don't really know was wrong with the book. Is there any hope of realizing my dream.
I published my first novel of 702 pages wrote everyday and heavy edited for a year thinking I made a wonderful story about friendship and holding on but I got no sales. I have no talent..
@ But how have you promoted your book? Have you got a social media page for it? Did you run ads? People won't be able to find your book unless you promote it.
I’m a coloring book designer with only a few out so far. A question: why did you not do Amazon publishing first for the journal and the book? For me, I see getting it up on Amazon as a kind of test of meeting the biggest retailer requirements first. Once I do that, then I might look elsewhere.
If you publish on IngramSpark with the option of distribution to Amazon, there's no need to upload to Amazon separately. That's why your ISBN got flagged and that's what created the problem.
Amazon prioritise books published on their platform. Also, their delivery time for the Ingram book was around 2 weeks, I wanted my book to be available with Amazon prime.
Good question. Because I get higher royalties when sales are made on Amazon compared to the royalties you get when IngramSpark distributes to Amazon. I also have full control over the book's product page, including keywords, categories, and (very important) using A+ content. With Amazon, I can also make faster changes to my book's details. And I can use the Amazon platform to run ads. The reason I also publish on Ingram is for the wider distribution to bookstores and libraries. Both platforms have their strengths, and using them together allows me to maximise my reach while tailoring my strategy for each platform.
