$1.5B US Taxpayer-Funded Aid Pier Busts Apart in Gaza

- The Port of ASHDOD, Israel - U.S. military efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza have hit a snag, as heavy sea conditions wrecked a temporary pier built off the coast.
The U.S. Central Command recently built the structure to help facilitate aid delivery to civilians caught in the crossfire. Heavy seas and a North African weather system, however, caused significant damage, washing sections of the pier along the Gaza coastline and the southern Israeli city of Ashdod.
Sal Mercogliano of Campbell University explained, "What you had happen off the coast of Gaza was an increase in sea swell and winds. And the US JLOTS, Joint Logistics Over-the-Shore operation, is really tailored to a specific sea state. And basically less than ten knots of wind or three feet of sea. When you get over that, it really taxes the system."

China's "islands" aren't exactly mobile and are sinking into the sea. These modules are built like Lego blocks: pick them up, reassemble them, and they'll be good to go again in a few days. Meanwhile China has spent years building islands out of tofu dregs.

Every time I hear this story the cost increases. The actual damage was trivial, as the parts washed ashore are designed to survive exactly that. This video is unabashed propaganda.
I'm still appalled that you Americans financed that thing. Palestinians danced in the streets in joy, not only on Oct 7th, but on Sept. 11 in 2001 as well. And so far the aid that was delivered via this pier, went straight to hamas.

US should have used the existing port in Sinai, and establish a millitary base near the border to Gaza so they can control the flux of food to Gaza instead of weapons build up in the area, threatening Israel in an already delicate situation. Hell US troops in Sinai could take advantage of the tunnels and drive in food underground …
