    FULL STORY:
The city-state of Sparta, located in the southern region of ancient Greece, was one of the most powerful military powers of its time. Spartans were renowned for their discipline, physical strength, and courage on the battlefield, and their society was built around these values.
The rise of Sparta can be traced back to the 8th century BC, when the city-state began to expand its territory and establish its dominance over neighboring regions. The Spartans focused heavily on military training, with boys as young as seven being taken from their families and placed into rigorous military schools. They were taught to endure hardship, to fight with a spear and shield, and to always prioritize the needs of the community over the individual.
The Spartan military was feared and respected by its enemies, and the city-state achieved many victories on the battlefield. However, their defeat at the Battle of Leuctra in 371 BC marked the beginning of the end for Sparta. This defeat led to political instability within the city-state, and other Greek states began to take advantage of their weakened state.
Sparta's failure to adapt to changing times and address external threats ultimately led to their downfall. Despite their military might, the Spartans were unable to keep up with the changing world around them. They were unable to compete with the rise of Macedon and the spread of Hellenistic culture throughout the Mediterranean.
Today, the legacy of Sparta lives on in popular culture, with the city-state often depicted as the embodiment of strength, courage, and discipline. While their society may no longer exist, the legacy of the Spartans as fierce warriors endures to this day.

Why Sparta Fell: sparta was extremely against having an empire, due to that fact, and their bad trade relations, they where underpopulated. they where wining war after war, but eventually they where drained. as if that wasn’t enough the slaves revolted causing the spartans to kill most of them; ergo, no one was tending to the land, they dissolved their military, took on farming, and many warriors became mercenaries and high ranking military officials in other city states, when Rome came they took all remaining military officials to serve their army, and sparta turned into an agricultural society.

Sparta fell because they had no effective mechanism for upward social mobility in their society, but they did have an effective mechanism for downward social mobility. When it’s easy to fall out of the warrior-caste and very difficult to rise into it, the decline of the society is inevitable.
Rome had nothing to do with the decline of Sparta. By the time Rome was any kind of player in the Greek world, Sparta was basically a theme park celebrating its history.
Also, and just for the record, Sparta lost its share of wars, too. It had a good string of successes, but it had its share of failures, even before it had become a shadow of its former self.

Fun fact: Spartans were known for their unique approach to parenting. At the age of seven, Spartan boys would leave their homes and begin their rigorous military training at state-run institutions called agoge. During their training, they would learn essential skills such as combat techniques, survival, and discipline, all with the aim of producing strong and disciplined warriors. This intense upbringing was a key factor in shaping the fearsome reputation of Spartan warriors on the battlefield.

Scheming and just not keeping up with ranged weapons made them weaker by the years, and infighting among young boys that led to death also reduced some numbers plus the fighting with other countries. I don't think it was a weakness that made Sparta irrelevant on a world stage, but instead too heavy a focus on the quality of their soldiers and not enough quantity. Sparta would continue to be problem even for rome, but they never would be able to field an army strong enough alone to change much after the Macedonian wars, always being part of a larger Greek force from that period forward.

To get 300 movie sparta on real life we need This made these 3 reforms
      1-Spartiate lineage
Spartiate was the elite military of sparta, was a very well trained, Disciplined and experienced force but had a problem,Only nobles could serve in the Spartiate force, if they did like the Theban sacred battalion, simply selecting the best soldiers, it would be better
      2-Support population growth
The Spartans had homosexual practices and could not see their wives until they were 30 years old and finished the agoge (Spartan military training) only after 30 could Spartans marry and vote,Probably if in late agoge, 25 years old for example, it would be good if they were a little free and met some women on their days off
      3-More importantly, helot issue
The helots were the Spartan slaves, they did the agricultural work, but thanks to there being many more helots than Spartans, the Spartans never launched offensives too far from home out of fear of helot slaves rebell.
If Sparta did like Rome and gave Spartan citizenship to helots at age 30 and reduced some of the helot agricultural workload, they would have problems in the first few years with agriculture, but they They could adapt, and incorporating the helots into the Spartan army as emergency aids more often would be interesting, in the platea battle Sparta mobilized a contingent of 40 thousand men, however around 30 thousand of these soldiers were armed helots, even though the helots were poorly trained and different from the hoplites who had a Bronze protection on the wooden shield, and the helots were just wood, a numerical force of helots to cover the Spartan flanks and rear in major battles would be decisive

I see some people referencing Spartans killing babies born with defects and such and I’m going to tell you that’s a myth. There’s also no archeological evidence of that. Without evidence, It’s just more propaganda making Sparta into what it never was.
As for Sparta’s downfall: its many things adding into each other but ultimately their societal ways being the core issue. From only spartan citizen elites getting to be the proper professional soldier (Sparta’s actual professional military was pretty small when you actually look into it), to the helots outnumbering them so much that Sparta feared having military campaigns away from home in case of slave rebellions, to women inheriting the wealth and land if their husband died (generally these are past along to sons but Sparta was different and when you need wealth and land to be considered a spartan elite to be eligible for military? This eventually causes the manpower issues Sparta had). And reproduction was also pretty limited to where soldiers had to sneak around if they wanted to have sons as you was forbidden from being with your wife till after your military service was done. If you died before then? Well that’s a lineage potentially ended. Spartan society was so extreme to being the 1% that it killed them.
Imagine if they treated lower classes better or even gave citizenship to their helots who could’ve helped them in military manpower. They might not have ended up being a joke in their twilight years as a tourist attraction in the Roman era, hell even Phillip II didn’t see Sparta worth the military effort because what was there to conquer by then?
You end up glorified as this once invincible military force to being a joke of a society that you aren’t even worth conquering cause your lands offer absolutely nothing.

Lots of pop history here. The agoge was not a military training school. There's not much evidence that Spartan forces were physically stronger even if the elite spartiates themselves could afford better diets and leisure training time. The military training they did receive was probably balanced out by the very much not-elite forces they captained (perioikoi, helots, etc). There were many factors leading to the downfall of Sparta, not the least of which was their unsustainable slave culture. What is true is that the popular idea of Spartans is their legacy - an unearned one.
