The industry was already in full flow when the abdication happened so Edward VIII coronation pieces were already in circulation and are still quite common. There was far less time for them to produce George VI items however after the abdication, so they are less common.
Wow interesting a lot people connected to royal objects through ancestry especially working for them....THEY HAD A WHOLE CITY/ISLAND WORKING FOR THE ROYAL FAMILIES
Another dumb american here who is so fascinated with history , which includes the British royal family/their history... I do understand that this was filmed bk in the early 2000s but I still think the prices seemed more on the lower side for back then even!!! But I think for almost all of these pieces it would be such a fantastic honor to have it within someone's family to always cherish....along with the amazing stories that come along with these brilliant items!!!💜🏰👑🩷
That's correct it is so much safer not to wear gloves to handle books plus cotten gloves would be more likely to be slippery & a dropped book would be a disaster @@henrylivingstone2800
The lady with the faberjay cufflinks etc. You can see that just by her appearance that she isn't the typical old pensioner that lives alone in a council house or home she is a woman of wealth with personal butler or servants so she knew the price of her items prior to the show so she ask her driver to take her there for a second opinion!
Interesting! I have some small china souvenirs made for the coronation of Edward 8th. Never sold publicly, of course.
It's the abdication mugs that are worth about £50, the Coronation mugs are worthless.

10:54 My dear chap. How sweet!
At 01:47 the second panel on the Grainger (Worcester) plate is actually Kensington Palace, not Buckingham Palace.
Ahhhh the English people are all so lovely❤️❤️❤️

Am I the only dumb American who thinks that these valuations are ridiculously low?
These evaluation were made more than a decade ago.
Fair point, but still, gold and gemstones, a signed note from Queen Victoria? I figured that book would be worth a few thousand at least.
That scrap book was way low! I'd think the Darwin letter would be 5k+ all day.
This is an old series u guess

My favorite had no value. I’d buy it for the history to Jane Grey.
I do love a maginifying glass.
That's Hampton Court Palace not Buckingham Palace on that plate.
The arms can't be those of Queen Victoria - they contain an inescutcheon of the arms of Hanover.
You’re right hers got modified in 1837. It got rid of that and the harp was also changed so it no longer included the naked lady.
William to consider the needs of her father, Queen and Blood.
✔️
I cannot believe that the appraisers handling papers handle them with un-gloved hands.
That’s terrible!
Experts no longer use gloves when handling paper as it desensitizes the hands and could lead to ripping
handling papers with gloves makes them more at risk to ripping
Apparently it's good handle with hands as oil on our hands helps with preservation of paper.

The internet is so fascinating, watching people make up entire conclusions to themselves based on nothing. xD gold.
Psychic, are you ?

I do
So don't watch?🤷
You cared enough to comment 🤣🥴
I care, because it interests me.
By all means, go elsewhere. Don't rain on the parade of those of us who do.
