I feel like Rick has witnessed so much that he has become to numb for any sort of outforward emotion but still shows Love in his own way.

llPale There were no tears, and that’s why it was showing the day and night cycle, he wasn’t crying day and night! And before he fell asleep, it showed him getting tired, his eyes droopy, and he started to move his head a little before falling asleep on the table.

He could always go to another universe. But Rick is lonely he almost never goes on adventure on his own it’s always with Morty or someone else. So yeah it’s deep rooted his family is keeping him alive.
