    That is true. We are conditioned to be wasteful. I have been without running water for over 66 days and I have been learning so much about water conservation. I found out that we are conditioned to waste water and many other natural resources.

    You sold me on trying to make the vinegar, got all the girls in the house (daughter-in-laws and granddaughter) and we made a gallon jug of apple cider vinegar today and we decided we want to try and make the wine. LOL, took a while for me to find your video's from 3 years ago but I did and have ordered my tools and yeast. Can't wait for them to get here in about a week. Your video's back then were great but I think they are even better today. Would love to see some new video's on your wine making.

    Man I was waiting for this video! I brought dried fruits, apples and I have the pineapple ready to plant the top that I’m going to follow your planting and vinegar steps..... also, I boiling the pineapple skin for the Bromelain! I can’t wait for your wine video.

    • @rwind656
      @rwind656 2 роки тому +1

      @Ms. Fitz, I missed about boiling for bromelain, is there more to it, please?

    • @fitzgn78
      @fitzgn78 2 роки тому +2

      @@rwind656 For years I’ve never throw the skin of the pineapple away I put it in water along with the core where the highest concentration of bromelain is found and more nutrients and I make a juice with other ingredients. Not sure if Lead Farmer has covered this but maybe he can 😉 hint hint! Happy Researching.

    • @rwind656
      @rwind656 2 роки тому +2

      @@fitzgn78 TY so much for answering my question. So you use the boiled pineapple core/skin water in your other juicing? (I juice as well. Now that you have made me think, when I've had pineapple, I have juiced the skin and core as well -- waste not want not and I figured there was good stuff in there! )
      Bromelain is an enzyme, so it makes me wonder -- does boiling deactivate the enzyme? Ok, you're right, I need to research. (Just didn't know if I understood what you were doing/saying. I've never thought of trying to extract the bromelain before.)
      I researched a bit... From Wikipedia -- Bromelain -- the section on "Temperature Stability" I find these tidbits for those of us interested:
      Room temp: "The proteolytic activity of concentrated bromelain solutions remains relatively stable for at least 1 week..."
      At only 104 °F, practically 100% remains active...
      After an hour at 122 °F, only 83% of the enzyme remains active...
      Eight minutes at 176F (lower than boiling/212F) is sufficient to almost completely inactivate the enzyme [Bromelain].
      Freezing seems okay: Multiple freeze-thaw cycles or exposure to the digestive enzyme trypsin: minimal inactivation.
      So now, I am asking myself, does making a vinegar of the pineapple parts deactivate the enzyme? (I guess there will be loads of good probiotics, but will the bromelain still be active to add to the goodness of pineapple vinegar? That would be lovely!)
      No answers. I can never remember which way is acidic and which alkaline in the numbers. It appears Vinegar is 3.0 on the pH scale (acidic). I see stomach acid is even more acidic. It ranges from 2.0 (normal dilution) to 1.0(upset stomach) to 0.0 (straight undiluted HCl). Hey, if bromelain survives stomach acid, maybe it survives the vinegar? Just guessing on that! I did see in a study (which I failed to understand 99% of) that "Bromelain exerts its activity over a pH range of 4.5 to 9.5," a study said... 7 is neutral... but maybe that's after the bromelain is absorbed by the gut.
      I can tell, reading all the benefits, I need to eat more pineapple! And if we grow our own, we'll also have the "stem" which has been removed from the ones we get in the grocery stores and that stem bromelain is a lot more effective than the fruit bromelain (in core and skin).
      Very interesting, and now I need to go make my vinegar. And orange/vinegar house cleaner. I saw you can just add all of your citrus peels into a white distilled vinegar, and I started that today in a large old pickle jar. How cool is that?!

    • @fitzgn78
      @fitzgn78 2 роки тому +3

      @@rwind656 you’re welcome! as you can see food is interesting! It just like lemons we can eat them, grate the peel for zest or boil it for 3 different benefits no matter was it does your body good! Vinegar has great properties too and there are any of those you can do as well. Remember you can drink or cook with it. Remember you can follow the process he provides but still research to learn more. Yes and lemons you can use in distilled vinegar! That’s like back in the day when some cleaning choices was vinegar for window I still resort to that method at times. Well happy vinegaring, juices, planting and more!
