Since everyone is asking about the background:
It's an art for Twin Snakes made by Noriyoshi Ohrai that was included in book from MGS3 Premium Package or something like that, I don't have it personally and used scan of it found online.
It's pretty sick tho
This artwork is legendary
Underrated as fuck, MGS1 had god-tier ambience, on par with horror games like Silent Hill.
Well said.
Mantis’ Hymn is haunting
Lol what MGS1 isn't underrated at all, it's widely well-known to be one of the greatest videogames ever created.
It was 1998 and I vividly remember going to Toys R' Us with my brother and mom, he got Resident Evil 2 while I scooped this gem of a game up, hours and hours of playtime were accumulated, along with an eternal love and respect for this game that shaped my childhood and even into my adult years, even to this day I can say without a doubt it is one of, if not my favorite game to ever have the honor of playing, I miss those days so much.
You ain't kiddin.
I'm right there with you brother, till this very day this game shaped me.
Similar story for me. MGS shaped me into the person i am now in adult life.
@@rogerm4a1early 2000s same with me…insert mgs2 and 3 …. My older cousin told me not to waste money on anything but these games…
Great memory. I wouldn't be who I am now without the experience of games like this and RE2! Games just aren't the same now.
Since I recognized metal gear solid as the greatest work of art over 22 years ago I can't believe I've never seen that amazing art work I the thumbnail
Everyone might find the action themes most iconic in Metal Gear, but I think the ambient tracks featured in the series also deserve similar recognition and also deserve to be enjoyed.
Dont know how this took years for everyone to find, but it's exactly what I needed.
This the best MGS soundtrack by far. It really sounds like it was made by John Carpenter. It truly gives the vibes of Escape From New York.
Art goes hard
00:57 Oh the memories all of these tracks bring, thank you.
I was going through some pretty rough times when this game came out, and although my path eventually led me to become a psychotherapist and help other people (or at least try my best to help), I'll always be thankful for videogames for the release they gave me at the time even though I didn't realize it back then. MGS, Final Fantasy VII, Vagrant Story, Tomb Raider, Tekken... the whole lot of the 90s. Not just the game worlds, the excellent storytelling and incredible characters, but the music and the ambience. I remember just sitting and listening to the ambience of the wolf cavern in this game. It was so atmospheric and soothing.
The artwork kinda reminds me of Castlevania: SotN
Man, Konami made some great PS1 games
This is amazing. all that's needed is some chaff grenade toggling sounds and some guard choking/neck snapping sounds.
God, Discovery is such an amazimg piece of ambience.
A hind d? Colonel, what's a Russian gunship doing here..
thanks, this is the highest quality i found in YT
My youth

What's the art? Doesn't look like Shinkawa, and I don't remember it being in the official art book for the game either
Metal Gear...
