Ripley is blocked by the door 42. It needs the maintaknence jack to open. Go to the left before the door 42 and get it from the dead guy.

jesus christ thx man. i just started a second playthrough, found the maintenance jack without problems in the first one, this time i was running around like an idiot.
Played this game, at least halfway through a dozen times. Always takes me forever to get through this part.
It really tells you how more recent games expect gamers are stupid. And behold, we condition ourselves to be so.

the map shows an item in the bagage conveyer room that opens up to you when you put the power on but nothing is there. i'm assuming you have to run the item into the room from somewhere else you can now access now that the power is up....i'm trying to not watch the solution so much as knowing to abandon what i was doing wrong- i wasted a lot of time in that bagage room.
Alright guys I need some help. I'm on mission 16 which is where everyone says to do your backtracking to find all the logs, tags, and any missed blueprints. I CANNOT SEEM TO FIND MY WAY back to this area where the very first Jack Lock on the door was. ironically when I was doing a mission previously I came back here but I still couldn't open the door that said invalid device by the convenience store. I'm getting super frustrated. In all the walkthroughs I've looked at none mention what this area is called on the map or how/where to travel to, to get back here.
For example at the transit stations where do I travel to get to this area? sch/med? Habitation? Engineering? The Spire? No flipping clue! Synthetics?
Anyone know and your help is appreciated.

I get to the part when you find the maintenance jack but it won't let me open the door to get out I play on xbox and my triggers work fine any suggestions?

iKurtiozHD there are some scripted sequences in wich you have to esscape the alien, mostly tho the alien reacts to the player's behavior. you can play whole segments and passages without encountering the alien. when you're super stealthy.
i hate how the motion to stop the security alert freezes for a second then continues. also, the TV tropes page has it wrong. it says and i quote "after viewing a video of a woman detailing the breakdown of life on sevastapol, the player is immediately forced to hide under a desk" wrong on 2 counts: 1. the sequence is automated. 2: you shut off an alert, not watch a video. EDIT: i fixed it. username is Erebus42
