    Right now Russ is on a vet minimum contract so it is easy to just be happy about the things he does right and not focus on the plays he messes up on. It was a great game by the guy but when he was on the Lakers, the expectations would have been different from a close to supermax contract player.
    I agree that those Lakers teams had a lot of problems and he was scapegoated multiple times unfairly, but a lot of the criticism w.r.t. his decision making and defensive lapses were valid as well.
    All in all, I am really happy that he is thriving in his current situation, and the plays mentioned in the video were indeed some great effort plays and he should be given his flowers for them. But solely blaming the Lakers for his previous struggles is unfair to them, since it was with them that he became used to an off-the-bench secondary role and he went through his growing pains there to get to the point he is now.

The Clippers he joined were already a well built team and he can comfortably make mistakes since he is on a vet min contract and any positive contributions he has in the minutes he plays will just be an added bonus.

      It was the lakers fault. It really was no one blames lebron. He was the primary, secondary and tertiary ball handler.
      Russ is not the greatest shooter. Yet, that's what they wanted from him. Why would you ask him to camp out behind the 3 pt line? Put the ball in his hands and let him make plays. But no, lebron wouldn't be happy because that would mean that the ball is not in lebron's hands (just like luka)

    • @apurvasharma6915
      @apurvasharma6915 Рік тому +2

      @@Mr3824KB LeBron was injured most of last year and Russ was allowed to be the lead guard, and he wasn't responsible for Russ' frequent defensive lapses during his Lakers' tenure. And yeah, when LeBron is on the team, everyone would want him to have the ball in his hand, Russ came to the team knowing that. Lastly, if you check the stats, LeBron's usage rate dropped last year in favor of Russ and his spot up 3 point attempts increased, so he tried his best to integrate him offensively. Russ didn't understand what the team needed of him last year and now he does.
