- Filming Helicopter and Riggers - Sections of new mast - Emley Moor - West Yorkshire
Watch video from the riggers perspective (via facebook) bit.ly/2IaIjwx
The helicopter at the Emley Moor mast site began lifting sections of a new mast. Each 2.5 tonne section was then secured by riggers who dangled a good 400 foot in the air working atop the temporary mast.
These jobs call for highest standards of work and safety measures, the helicopters are a great help and speed up engineering times to the benefit of all.
That ain't easy, patience and precision needed to do it right.
Thanks for sharing😉👍
The original emley moor transmitter was a similar lattice tower it was erected by polish riggers and was brought down by ice on the stay cables
The concrete tower was it’s replacement
Thanks for filming this
I have seen the tower but missed them erecting it,
Nice little bit of history
You have filmed
Thanks Mick!
That is skilled flying hats off to the pilot and riggers ,getting virtigo just watching
i live here saw all of this
I cannot begin to describe how exhilarating it is working on high structures, lattice masts in particular.
OMG! Rather you than me ;)
Pucker factor was definitely a 10+...
Camera work was really great, both near and far.
What could possibly go wrong? Great footage. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Harry.
The Super Puma helicopter is now living in the Cote d'Azur.. A bit of a drop from Yorkshire. Never mind.
Brilliant.....Brave Guys, could easily be crushed
this is a tower not a mast !
I suppose Emley moor tv tower has a better ring to it.
A tower is a self supporting structure, a mast has cable guides. So the new one being built is a mast and original a tower
Its still up there i can see it from my lounge window . must if i had to build it we'd all be on cable
Omg! There's no way on earth I'd be up there!
Me neither however I have climbed up the Eiffel tower lol
Julia Houston The Quiet Cyclist Eek! I dont do heights lol....Good for you Jules 👍🏻
No I hate heights, never again!
That's madness, wouldn't get me up there, 👍
Me neither.
Blimey 🤭
Julia’s not so quiet outdoors as it would appear
