Funny how many people didn't even listen to, or know Johnny Cash's Name before "Walk The Line" came out. Guess "Holly-Weird" gets to decide who's good or bad in their movies. Friend of mine opened for Johnny in Late 1960's and to quote him said: "He was as high as a Georgia Pine that night". It is not a Normal 9 to 5 Job or life, critics will never know...
Most people knew who Cash was before the biopic came out. Your knowledge of music might be limited to mainstream artists of the modern era but almost every true lover of country, rock and roll and even punk rock knows the Man in Black. The movie actually capitalised on the fact that Johnny Cash became mainstream again with his cover of Hurt. The movie benefitted more from Cash's popularity than Cash did from the movie. Most Johnny Cash fans haven't even seen it but the people that did see it became fans of him. He may not have remained relevant in the last 20 years of his life until he recorded Hurt but let's be honest, how many legendary musicians do ? Chuck Berry, the father of rock and roll, writer of rock music's most popular tracks. Everyone has heard Johnny B. Goode but still, when the man passed away, he barely made any headlines. Elvis didn't remain relevant in the last few years of his life. Sad thing is, he became relevant again, the day he passed away. More people have bought and listened to Led Zeppelin and The Beatles and Elton John and Rolling Stones. Yet nowadays, people think Katy Perry or Kanye West are the most popular musicians. The thing is, they are the most popular musicians but only nowadays. A few decades from now, artists like Chuck berry and Elvis and Johnny Cash and Led Zeppelin and The Beatles would gain a status similar to Beethoven and Mozart and Tchaikovsky but artists like Katy perry, Beyonce, Kanye West and Justin Bieber would all be referred to as a trend.

One of the first to live the rockstar lifestyle
He was the greatest singer EVER
Don't tell us this like you've discovered something - we all know it, and that's another reason why we love him.
*"let those without sin..."*
YOU SHOULD NOT SOIL HIS MAN🤔
u know tnothing of the TRUTH
Piss off and learn how to write
Who is soiling whom??
Johnny told it all through multiple books himself....
Yeah he had his issues (I knew about them before this) but we all have issues and he also had a lot of good things he did
Johnny Cash is the Best!!
Best of what?
@@ricklee5431 country music I suppose
@@The_General_Owl LOL... I appreciate it! I've lost my clairvoyant abilities 😇
@Bob Davidson No I really didn't know. I suspected it to be another of those "...the best ever..." attitudes which I object to, hence my question.
I guess we have our own preferences but regarding story telling in the country genre I prefer Kris Kristofferson. KK also retains a degree of humour and sarcasm which speaks to me 👍
There will never be another Man In Black!
These people are musicians who sing good music and nothing more or less. I just dont get all the interest in personal lives and dissecting them. Especially long after they die. Guy was flawed person just like rest of us! Just had amazing. Music talent
Plus,, the man is dead. Let him be.
johnny cash: bitter tears, 1964. rest in peace king
Oh wow you mean he wasn't perfect? 🤯 🙄 C'mon he was super flawed that's what made him interesting
That small of a fine to a species that could’ve never been brought back, just because he was famous. Anyone else would’ve been thrown in jail..
Jhonny Cash é maravilhoso 👏😍
The most horrible thing he did was burn down some trees that happens every year in California
Johnny left us with insperation , what you gonna leave ?
He repented and was saved, we have all done stupid stuff while in addiction . Only GOD can judge ! Ok
There he is! I was waiting for God to make an appearance here.
we love johnny cash.
Seriously, who didn't already know this?
Just like most of many entertainers, we seen a chemical induced being strumming an instrument with more than most anger, hostility and evil.
