I was there, probably my 16th Jay Concert over the years and I can promise you, nothing had changed, the bass-driven funk style was respected as only Jay knows how to arrange it.

Toria Well, i guess music and art in general are subjective. Personally, as a musician who is totally gaga about Jay Kay, i would be devastated if he sang like that when i saw him in May. But the important thing is that you dug the show. Unfortunately a bad vocal night is a byproduct of being driven by the machine which promotes and manages artists, and forces them into a very busy gigging schedule, which is very demanding on the vocal chords. But, hey, what's a bad vocal night once in a blue moon when you get to own a zillion super cars?
I really don't think promotion and management is an issue with Jay. From interviews, he's made it pretty clear that he's cut the cord with a lot of the machine. He handles most of his own business. He really wrecked his voice at the first Coachella performance. He just pushed it too hard. He doesn't sound that bad here.

Jay Kay had undergone major back surgery some time before his european tour, which immobilized him for a long time. And he had lost Toby Smith his great friend of youth and musician of the group for a few years the european tour was surely very hard for him... but Jay Kay will rest unique . This music is so particular.
in my opinion the band isn't good enough and Jay is not in shape.. I'm not feeling like Jay is gong all out....may be connected,,,,, would love to see Jay in shape and Marcus Miller with his boys and a big band taking care of the groove., now that would be a show worth seeing.

Their register, their style, their inspiration are quite different. But one is no better than the other . I can appreciate Marcus Miller, but just as much Jamiroquai, and especially Jay Kay who is the soul of the band. And in terms of groove, I prefer the more organic of JK, which comes from the belly.

In summary, the worst Jamiroquai concert ever in my opinion. Jay had a real off day, and the crowd are just so uninterested. Really tough crowd.
