  • Today's thrift store run was a total jackpot! 🎉 I scored some amazing vintage treasures. Here's what I found:
Pioneer SG-300 Equalizer: A classic piece for fine-tuning that vintage sound.
Technics M224 Cassette Deck: Another gem for tape heads, ready for a little TLC.
Panasonic 'Stereo-to-Go': An early Walkman-style personal cassette player-compact and iconic.
DeJur Electra 400 Super 8 Film Camcorder: A nostalgic throwback for vintage filmmaking fans.
Cool vintage Lamp: Because the perfect vintage setup deserves the right vibe!
This quick show-and-tell highlights these awesome finds and why I couldn’t pass them up. Whether you're into hi-fi gear, cassette culture, or retro treasures, you’re going to love this haul.

I go once a week to both donate something and look mainly for dvd or vhs if the store carries any. I have a full shelf of stereo stuff and yes some of it came from thrift stores. Also donated back one complete with the dust cover and matching loudspeaker system.
I had to get after the store management as there was a theif who kept coming in and stealing the turntable heads and receiver knobs off.
They eventually realized I was correct and moved the electronics area beside the cashier.
I find its people downsizing is why the stuff ends up there.
Also the store splits up the complete system frequently.
Ive seen it a hundred times over the years. Only the very smallest thrifts don't do that. I guess they want you to come back tomorrow to get the matching piece.
With film cameras you also need the Screen, the Lamp, the Light Indicator, the Bag.
Most is impossible to find now only orphaned cameras which I see often.
Someone donated a white or very light grey German made camera at the store local to me. Someone opened the original box and pulled out the case of other lens options. I tried telling the cashier this needs to be put in with the camera. It was never put together.
    Stupid stuff like that always.

Good to know about the Super Eight. I know literally nothing about them. And yeah I know what you mean about them breaking stuff up and also people stealing parts. I see that a lot with espresso machines ( I like to restore them), the portafilter is ALWAYS gone. The other thing I've noticed with our thrift stores is they are starting to get savvy on the value of hifi gear. their prices are starting to look like eBay on some stuff. Which I don't think is fair for a non-profit to do that. I mean they got it free, they should be paying it forward with good deals not competing with the resellers.

@AudioCoconut The stores I go to are hit and miss. One item is crazy price the next one is very reasonable. I think it depends on what staff member priced it.
I've seen prices go literally either way after people saying something. Sometimes they say oh no it's not supposed to be that and it's put higher. Rarely they lower it.
It's possible to get the lamp you need for INDOOR filming. I see them yet just be prepared to source a bulb (special photography bulbs with type # such as "ABC" (wattage and colour). Screen you can make one if you cannot find. Those are hard to find now. Bag you can use a more modern if you can't find a vintage one.
Light meter is something that you can get away without if you have experience in print photography or experiment.
There is one film size still available.
I thought it's 16mm and 8mm was totally obsolete. I could be mistaken.
My grandfather was almost pro level with his movie camera long ago and far away.
I have a lot of lighting for this but used for vintage print photography. I couldn't afford the cameras and film for movies then.
If you find a plastic Kodak home movie camera that's the one I think is still usable.
I still see them in flea markets and not super expensive.

      Projector!
I forgot the biggest missing piece.
I used to have a 16mm DuKane but couldn't find the screen or any films to watch and it was tossed in a move. Need the projector and 2 reels so you can watch the movie you filmed. You can use a Previewer instead but the viewer screen is very small.
You may have to ship the finished rolls away for Developing and Processing unless you live in a mega city.

@ Wow I appreciate the info thank you! Sounds like a lot of stuff I'll need to obtain before we can use it. It's ok, I love a good project. I think anyone that is into vintage hifi or electronics must hough.
