congrats on submitting your lit review!! i know how hard you've been working and it's definitely something to celebrate. 🥳 i appreciated you sharing more about what you're reading and found this vlog very relaxing to watch (even though i imagine the work you had to do was not relaxing). it seems as though you're well on your way to your upgrade and i'm excited to see next week's vlog 😊
ty Emily! I didn't think of this as a relaxing watch but I'm glad it wasn't stressfulllll! i can't remember, did you have to do a lit review for your proposal?
Love your vlogs and watching your PhD process. You should check out Sisterhood Heals by Dr. Joy Harden Bradford. I'm not sure if it will help your research in anyway but she does cover Black Womens relationships and the intimacy of Friendship. As a Black women in my 30s who is starting the PhD application process, thank you for starting this channel and vlog series.
Ahh this is so wonderful to hear. I started my UA-cam channel because I couldn't find many Black women PhDs in progress (starting in their 30s). I hadn't heard of Dr. Harden Bradford's work, I'll check it out, thank you! What are you considering doing your PhD on?
@@temikeita I currently work as an exercise physiologist at a neuromuscular clinic and I would like to continue my PhD into either Kinesiology or Physical Therapy. It's been inspiring to binge watch you channel as I look at the process of getting a PhD outside of the US in either Portugal or the UK. Thank you for the inspiration.
On my shelf I’ve got “Black women writers at work” and “so we can know: writers of color on pregnancy, loss, abortion, and birth” (the second is not specific about black ppl but includes several works that are). And “set the world on fire” about Black nationalist women but it’s more 20th century but does have continuities included. Loved the vlog, I’m subscribing :-)
Love this, instant follow
same here 😀
