    One of the most excellent reviews for this tool set (and any set for that matter). This is how a review should be, slow and patient and covering every detail while even focusing the camera on it. I have a Craftsman set that I bought in the 90s which I still use today with no problem or wear. But I'm thinking of upgrading to a more complete tool set with these kind of drawers that make things easy to find. I think this Goodwrench set will be my choice, the colors and quality look great and great visibility on size labels, on both the sockets and the plastic case itself.
    Thanks for a great review.

    I'm sold on this set, especially when sizes are not skipped and there isn't a lot of small bits that you might rarely use or not at all!

    Its a great set, and one of the most complete sets without skipping sizes, skipping sizes is one of my biggest pet peeves. The only thing i would say, it would be nice if they included their pliers set. They could have put it in the lid.

    Things I would like to add: Expanded wrench set up to 24mm, and a fourth empty drawer so I can my own set of pliers.

    great set but I am now into the 243 Craftsman set,.. almost the same and the plus is in the 1/2 deep sockets, the downside does not have a case, all for $149 at Lowes website in 2021

    Best set out there. Hex sockets instead of those lame hex keys every other brand pushes.

      I've used several sets of the craftsman USA made ignition wrenches and hex keys so i don't have a problem with them especially if I'm also doing something like changing or replacing the rearview mirror, adjustment on a compound bow sight or a scope and the mount on a rifle trust me they come in handy and the older craftsman USA made ignition wrenches were better made than the crap everyone sells now, and the 11/32 can be a very valuable tool when removing the starter on a Oldsmobile V8 or sbc gm gbody and fbody cars especially with ac and headers and the same thing with the gmt400 88-98 trucks

    Just bought this set the other day from Home Depot...unfortunately it seems gear wrench has cut cost on this set significantly not even close the quality as the set in the video...generic sockets that look like they could be from HF budget line, muddy knurling and engraving, cheap and flimsy storage case, doesn't even come with the cardboard inserts anymore lol...gonna be returning it...everything is made in Vietnam and mainland China, guessing the old version was made in Taiwan...just a heads up anyone considering this kit.

    Great set, to be honest, but I wish they would make it into a 4 drawer set like kobalt, example, when you open the top, it should be your ratchet wrenches designed like the Gearwrench 232pc set like it has it on top when you open the top, and the flip opening top should have a molded casing inside for the combination wrenches. Then, first drawer should be your 1/2 socket with drive ratchet, 2nd drawer should be your 3/8 drive ratchet & sockets, 3rd drawer should be your 1/4 drive ratchet & sockets, and 4th drawer should be your E-torx & T-torx, with some allen sockets along with a good set of extension sets. But hay that's just my opinion, but overall cool review. Hope some day you can do a review on SATA 213pc mechanic tool set, the way that tool box is set up is what Gearwrench should have set up there tool box.

    • @CoyleTools
      @CoyleTools  2 роки тому +2

      That's a good suggestion. I don't have access to the SATA brand of tools. SATA is owned by Apex Tool Group, which also owns other brands that I do carry like Gearwrench. They started SATA as a way to sell consumer-grade offerings on Amazon and focus on Latin American, European and Asian markets. Their product lineup, pricing and warranty process are not pro-grade, which is the market I sell to.

    Looks much nicer than my Kobalt 227 piece tool set. Gearwrench makes great stuff.

    • @CoyleTools

      You can get a lot of mileage out of Kobalt tools. Not very long ago Snap-On manufactured their ratchets, so you were buying top-tier tools at big box prices. I don't know who manufactures for them now, but Kobalt isn't junk by any stretch.

    • @CoyleTools
      @CoyleTools  4 роки тому +4

      Not one this size. They have smaller kits that mostly have sockets and ratchets. This one is a master set, so it's got some of everything.

    I have looked into getting this one or the DeWalt 192pc mechanic tool set but both are out of my price range and usually stay that way,, so i now have a 1/4 inch 90t socket set and the comparable 3/8 120xp socket set and the mid length 1/4 and 3/8 saw and metric socket sets all from Amazon deals and the main socket set i use that is somewhat mobile is a husky brand h194mts mechanic tool set and honestly i like it even if it was not bought brand new it seems decent to me, and the 3/8 tekton complete set of shallow and deep sae and metric socket set including the ratchet and extension universal and the breaker bar in the lid and i don't think i am looking to buy either of the other sets i couldn't afford before

      That'll be interesting to find out. I guess it depends on who the seller is and which ones they have in inventory. It's possible they've got some older stock. In either case, you're still getting an excellent set and honestly, the new 90T ratchets aren't that much of an upgrade. The 84s are perfectly good.

    I'm not sure about gearwrench tools. There quality has been down these days. As for Chrome sockets not my first choice I guess since you don't have any power tools in the kit but I prefer impact sockets.

    • @CoyleTools
      @CoyleTools  4 роки тому +4

      I haven't seen any quality issues myself, especially compared to their older stuff. And with the volume of Gearwrench that we sell, we'd see plenty if there were any problems with tools coming out of the factory. And if we did see that, I'd drop them in a second. There are some greasy retailers who will sell defective or second-rate tools if they purchased them from shady sources, but that doesn't indicate QC issues during manufacturing. The pro-grade tool industry is too competitive for anyone to turn out sub-par products and expect to survive.

    • @nickshowsstuff435
      @nickshowsstuff435 4 роки тому +1

      I had a whole 51 piece 1/4” set I had to swap out since a bunch of the sockets had defects. It was my first GW set so it wasn’t a great first impression. If tekton had the broaching that GW sockets have they would be the best option but they’re still a great option.

    Is this the best and most durable brand for mechanic tool set?

    • @CoyleTools
      @CoyleTools  3 роки тому +1

      I don't know. You'd have to first define what makes something "best." I would never make that claim for anything I sell since I couldn't do it honestly. Is it the most durable? I don't know that, either. All tools will break if used beyond their capabilities or if they fatigue enough over time. What you should look for in a tool set is value. Very simply, are you getting what you're paying for? Do you understand and accept the limitations of whatever it is you're buying? Is the amount of money you're spending enough to get you the kind of advice, knowledge and after-sale support that a good vendor provides as part of your purchase?
