PRESIDENT MUSEVENI SAYS AL-SHABAAB WILL REGRET ATTACKING UPDF FORCES IN SOMALIA

- President Museveni has expressed deep concern and determination in the face of the recent attack by Al-Shabaab on the Uganda People's Défense Forces in Somalia.
In a statement sent out to the media, the President made it clear that the assailants would soon regret the day they crossed paths with the UPDF.
The incident unfolded in the early hours of Friday, when Al-Shabaab militants targeted a Forward Operational Base manned by a company of UPDF soldiers in the volatile Bulo-Mareer region of Somalia.
Though the FOB was equipped with light weapons, it boasted a robust defense mechanism to repel any threats it encountered.
Regrettably, the assailants managed to exploit a moment of panic and disarray among some of the stationed soldiers, infiltrating the base and causing damage to critical equipment.
However, President Museveni revealed that the panic among the soldiers was unfounded.

I like this museveni man, he is very much informed and he supports his army men. God bless you Mr president and you should chip in and kick away the corruption issue that's degrading our forces. The bosses in the military and government are sending their children ( officers in the military) to such operations knowing well that they will come home rich but in the real sense the children of the rich wouldn't perform as it's expected.

The Somali civilian population is the group that suffers the most. In Alshabab's hands, supported by foreign terrorists, corrupt politicians and mafia interest groups. We must not overlook what Ugandan forces have achieved in restoring law and order in Mogadishu. I can still imagine what it was like years ago. Today is much better, we are nearing the finish line and soon Uganda and Somalia will benefit from our relationship in the future and not from this horrible hate-motivated group.

My couple of points of disagreement is darkness and NRA. Africa is dark most of the time and we should be able to, as trained soldiers, maintain hold in darkness. NRA: there is no NRA. If it is there, then we have made no professional and institutional military progress, hypothetically, since the 1990s.
Personally, I hold and believe President Museveni to be the best head of state ever, in Uganda, comparatively and realistically.
In any case, security is a complex arena, to say the least.

American are there to sustain the war. My cousins soldiers once told me one morning they prepared to clear Alshabab, but some Americans who are there selling guns, stop their commander. When you stop war there is no employment. Also the president is right, going to Somali for social welfare or getting rich, diverts attention from focusing on the enemies, instead one focuses on time duration to be paid without work. Creating hoc groups mean real soldiers are busy somewhere. To find a patriotic commander like the late Lockech will take time. Let us not forget that Alshabab are paid in dollars, even Somali soldiers are currupted in that. Again the president is right curruption has infiltrated the different armed group there.
