I absolutely love this deck! It is positive, creative, and without the nihilism of most decks. I am working my way through the oracle decks and they are very thought provoking. The Wild Animal Oracle is amazing. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for the more indepth understanding of the cards. I just got this deck. The hierophant is a raven. The way you tell them apart are many, some more subtle than others. In the case of this card the large bill (could be thicker but artistic liberty right) and very thick throat feathers are characteristic of a raven. In reality those throat hackles may be less prominent in young ravens (1-6 ish years where they live in teenage gangs before pairing off) who also act more crow-like. Ravens also have deeper more varied calls. Ravens are more kraaa while crows are more cawww. Ravens have fan shaped tails crows rectangle. Ravens have longer flight feathers giving the illusion of fingers on their wings and thus make a more audible noise when flapping. Ravens also glide more and often do acrobatics in the air. Sorry for the bird nerd moment. I love corvids. Was friends with the ravens around my childhood house. Threw them eggs and food from my chickens every morning.
Also about 8 of pentacles: Spiders have 8 legs, it’s a nice touch and super fitting! I have recently gotten back into tarot, I have the same version of TWU as you, think it’s 10 years since I bought it? Used it for about 3 months when I had noe idea what I was doing. A few years ago I found it at the attic of my childhood home and bought it with me. Still didn’t use it for many years, but I did end up having a spiritual awakening and now I am really exploring this deck (and other types of divination decks/tools). Thank you for making this video! Really insightful and you perspective is much appreciated🙏
With wild unknown taro cards I found a new ways of divining. Very special images and vibrations appears in my mind. I'm sure the deck is connected. I got it not long ago and it needs exploring. It's worth investing in this lovely pack of cords.
The VIII of Cups : what I see here is a reminder that the cups are only vessels for the element, water, and not direct symbols. Maybe cups help us count the water, but ultimately each piece of this element is part of a mystical whole. Something like that.
Your comment about the fool has given me a better viewpoint of a card I thought was too cutesy. And I, too, have seen bullfights in Spain. I came to appreciate the matador’s skill, and I view the 10 of swords as a “good death.” When it comes to the death card itself, I am so tempted to color in some green fronds among the bones! Enjoying your series immensely.
That's what I love about the comments - the different viewpoints! I WISH I had the courage to colour my deck, but I never will. I saw someone on FB who had put some colour on their black and white Bianco Tarot deck and it looked SOOOO good. Thanks for commenting! ♥️🙏
After watching your video and I was doing a reading with the deck and I discovered there are 5 cards that have the lightning bolt. The Tower and the Ace of swords have 2 yellow bolts while the 8 of Wands, the Father of Wands & the Hierophant have 1 multicolored Bolt. I wonder if it was artistic preference or had to do with more meaning! PS, I loved your discussion of the cards🥰
I'm brand new to your channel and got chills watching your interpretation of TWU. I bought the deck a couple of years ago and have struggled with understanding it ever since. I'm so excited to delve back into it now with the help of your insight!

I dodnt like these cards when I saw them but now that you talked them through I'm going for a deck today love them thanks I gotta have them and got to see them all
Hello Allie.. I just stumbled across your channel. I was recently gifted the Wild Unknown standard size and I just purchased the tin version to compare "energies" between these decks. Lately, I'm leaning more towards smaller size decks as I'm feeling a calling to explore larger readings. To be honest, I wasn't at all moved by this deck when it first came out but as you know it became very popular for tarot enthusiasts. I do have the Animal Spirits oracle which I enjoy working with for animal spirit communication. The guidebook for both decks are loosely written and I thought it could have been written more in mind for the user rather than a generic perspective. I will be sharing my perspective of TWU standard and tin size decks on my channel in the coming days. Believe it or not, I feel these decks hold different spaces of energy that makes them unique to work with. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts. in spirit. ... Aimee 🌹✨🕯
I agree the WU guidebook is unfortunate. It didn't help me connect with the deck at all. I was talking about it to a friend and they recommended checking out Carrie Mallon's Tarot Blog. She did a series where she blogged through each of the 78 cards in the WU deck and gave her interpretations. It's the guidebook I wish the deck came with. It made me see it in a whole new light. Also, I believe it's a raven on the Hierophant card. Ravens have those shaggy throat feathers where a crows are smoother.
I love Carrie Mallon and I always meant to read that blog, but I just ended up making my own associations. I should definitely look at it, though! And thank you for the crow/raven distinction!
Love your analysis on this one, it's my favorite Tarot deck so far. Very modern, with bright and bold symbolism yet still respects roots of Tarot. Kim Krans has 3 other bundles (Alchemy, Archetypes and Animal Spirit decks), love them so much.
I still don't have any of the others, but tarot is way more my thing than oracle. I do have oracle decks, but they get so much less use I'm trying to be really judicious about how many I have. If she did another tarot, I'd probably be all over it!
Thank you for this video as well as your defense/reply to Papa Squirrel about this deck. I especially enjoyed how you pointed out the 9 and 10 of Swords, easily the most challenging cards in the deck for me. I agree with your assessment about the 10 feeling more limited in its interpretation (over-the-top cruelty, betraying the planet perhaps?) but the the 9, while being maybe even harder to look at, fits the meaning of that card very well with plenty of room for interpretation! (P.S. it was really interesting to hear about how this deck directly inspired so much of the Spacious Tarot (in the Spacious Tarot audio guide). I think this deck likely inspired many other decks/cards in other decks.) I'm learning (I think) that I can be OK with some difficult-to-look at cards when those cards carry rich meaning, but I'm still a long ways from wanting an entire deck that's difficult to look at! (e.g. Deviant Moon).
I also have never gotten the Deviant Moon, although so many people LOVE it. That's the thing about Tarot - your tastes grow and change! Thanks so much for commenting - I love this deck so, so much!
I just started tarot a couple months ago and finally tonight I pulled out my copy of the WU. I was transfixed by it all night. There's something very calming about taking the humans out but having animal energies present. Thanks for your video. Very interesting.
I just ordered TWU in a tin, pocket size. I love it when they do that. As for the deck, I somehow put it off buying it because it was so popular I guess. And now I get my chance to explore it. I feel like I’ll connect very well with the deck.
Really appreciating the info about bats as that definitely adds to my understanding of the Hanged Man, in that way of, oh this is so obvious! and yet I never considered it before. Win! (New to this deck so this is a treat.) Thank you!
