Joe Franlin Agrred, Ancient Cave is absolutely amazing and the sole reason I started playing Dark Cloud/Dark Cloud 2 (Chronicle). Pity I never finished either though, but have Ebayed both for next week. Anyway, Lufia 2, gawd I wish it would get a DECENT remake in the modern era, with everything kept the same just with a shit load more additions (and make Arek a superboss since....like everyone wants to know what that dude's goal is). And Arek is my name....so....by everyone I mean me more than anyone else. >_>

+Nova Gavi Pretty sure Arek is god, and in my opinion, the Sinistrals are sent to test humanity. If they cannot manage to drive the sinistrals away, then they don't deserve to continue existing.
Well I suppose that does explain some of Erim's back and forward behavior. But regardless, it still wouldn't be the first time "god" has been beaten in a game lol. I thought a translation of one of the other Lufia games did confirm that Arek (called something else, I can't remember what, but still referred to as "Absolute") was the god of the Sinistrals, so god of gods so to speak. Anyway, I'd still like to know more about him than the regular 4 it shows, with the occasional line drop from Daos or Erim about Arek.

I was around 10-12 years old when I started playing this game and had 0 knowledge about music. Didn't realize that this was in fact a sick metal music. All I knew was this song sent chills down my spine when I first fought Gades. I knew it wasn't a normal boss fight. Oh the drama.....
When I first heard this I was what, ten? I remember exactly where I was when I ran into Gades. I'll never forget that feeling of "Oh... shit. I'm going to die."
There's this feeling of trepidation when you hear this theme play on your first-ever playthrough - you just know this is going to be a tough fight, especially since the one just introduced himself as "Gades, Sinistral of Destruction". Most will fall, and that's okay. But when you prepare enough, and with your currently-miniscule strength you find victory? That is the most satisfying feeling - which is only accentuated upon when afterward, Maxim holds a new sword above his head and a text box appears claiming "You obtained Gades' Blade"
Did anyone ever level grind enough (not very hard on New Game+ with the 4x exp multiplier) to be able to beat Gades the first time you face him at Gordovan West Tower? Sure, he just goes "Ah, now see my true power!" and wipes you out in a cutscene anyway, but you get an IMMENSE amount of exp and gold and the Gades Blade, which will be the most powerful weapon you can get for Guy or Dekar for most of the rest of the game (especially with its devastating 'Octo Strike' IP tech). Plus it's simply one of the tensest and most awesome battles you'll ever play! A lot of effort, but worth it!
+ArcaneAzmadi I have done it one time. But I think i don't do it again, because you need to grind so much. And except for this fight it is not nessecary.
+Betäubtes Faultier Yeah, to be honest it is rather boring- about 2-3 solid hours of running around fighting monsters in Gordovan West Tower to raise yourself from the roughly level 17 you should normally be at this stage of the game to the level 25 or so you need to be to stand up to Gades (if your level isn't markedly higher than the default then Selan and Tia and possibly even Maxim won't survive even a SINGLE hit from Gades' Destructo Wave attack). But damn it's satisfying to do just once.
+ArcaneAzmadi That sword works on shadow element enemies if you pair it with the undead ring too. You can annihilate most enemies in the game with a light elemental Gades blade.
+ArcaneAzmadi I know this comment is old but you can Defeat Gades in the gordovan west tower without grinding. it's hard and you need a little bit of luck. But it is manageable.

Have always loved this game ever since playing it a long time ago as a kid.
The intro makes me think of Cross Your Heart/Crucifix Held Close from Haunted Castle. Then it turns into something completely different.
What a badass song, I also love the remix that I heard on here too, the one with the full on band, it's almost perfect,
Everyone here NEEDS to check out the Zircon remix.
It is easily one of the greatest remixes ever, hands down.
SNES OST is really incredible.
I was playing Castlevania music on a piano in high school when a friend of mine walked up and commented on how beautiful the piece was.
When I told her what it was from, she scoffed and told me to play some real music.
Dat feel when you punched a girl.
Yep, gonna take on were I left, a few months a go, that song made my day!!! :D
I love my childhood ❤️
men, this is a perfect music for the final bosses, sometimes i was just leave the controller and hear that for a long time, so i suffer to kill the boss but i never got mad when someone of the 4 owned me.
@GSS1Sirius ha ha, I feel the DS remix does top it, but not by much, if only because it has real guitar backing it. Either way though, this song just makes you really want to get out and get into a brutal fight of sorts, like a bar-room brawl or something, just so you can kick ass while jamming to this awesome track if I say so myself.
Lufia 2 is easily in the top ten for best musical themes.
I always imagine something huge is coming out of the ground whenever I hear this theme.
I love LUFIA :)
This is a love song btw.
One of the best RPGs ever made (both 1 and 2 are amazing), but in 2 you have the epic music like this.
Tururúrururururu ru ru Tururúrururururu ru ru
I used to have lyrics made up for this song that I'd sing whenever I fought against one of the four Sinistrals. Sadly, I don't remember them anymore.... However, this theme is too badass not to get lyrics!
I wish they re-release that on the 3DS or maybe even in appstore.
There was a remake of this game for Nintendo DS: „Lufia - Curse of Sinistrals“. It has a different gameplay and an altered story, yet it is based on Lufia 2, quite nice and you can play it on your 3DS as well! Had to import it myself though, as it wasn‘t released in Europe (but in the US the very least).
@Paiotay There are quite a few perfectly functional SNES' on sale around the web. I managed to get one to replace my previous SNES and it works like a charm.
Huge. Fudging. WIN!!
I'm just now starting to play the game using my friend's SNES. IT outright rocks! :D
Whoa!! This song kicks ass!!
Remember the time when you played that game until that song. ♪
It was the best time I ever had. I will always remember when I played that game and finally could listen to this epic song. I've learned it to play on my keyboard, and that's when I decided to go to the music school, where they've put me into the third class, because I've learned to play with that song before. ♪
Ooh, that's a good one. Dance of Pales would also be very classy.
When this Theme starts...you know youre f*****d 😂
AWESOMEE E E E E E E ! ! ! ! ! !
@Taienverdain A good counter point for that is 'Megaman Juno's Theme' from Megaman Legends. Any music teacher would recognize it instantly.
@rachenar Not just that, but best elite boss theme, period.
