The videos from buying the HDT throughout the build process are showing everyone how simple (relatively speaking) this process actually is... and how it doesn’t need/have to be overwhelming. Thank you!!
Hi Todd. You are very welcome. The whole point of our channel is providing content that is helpful so thank you for those kind words. Its great to know we are helping. Stay tuned for more. Safe Travels
nice work and thanks for sharing. I do encourage you both to wear eye protection while grinding metal. I spent a very painful night in the ER after grinding with just my eye glasses when a piece of metal found it's way into my eye. No lasting damage thank goodness, but sure made me realize that little pieces of metal go everywhere when grinding. Take care!
Hi Alan. You are 100% correct. I did use eye protection just not in every shot so that's my bad. So glad to hear that you came out without serious injury. Thanks for the tip and concern :) Safe Travels
That's really helpful....thank you for showing how you did it...👍 really looking good...been back In touch with millar ins...👍...all is good...thanks again..J&A
What were all your mounting locations for attaching the deck to the original frame...I believe I saw brackets on 4 corners of the original 5th wheel slider deck...where else did you attach? What did you use to isolate the deck from the frame...I've heard of folks using hockey pucks!
Hi Dan, We attached it in two places up front, bolted to the side of the frame, on the sides by the original fifth wheel attachment point and twice in the rear, attached to the sides of the frame. 6 attachemnt points in total. We did not isolate it from the frame. Safe Travels
Such a teaser!!! Jk I've been waiting for these series of videos, looks great and definitely like that you are doing it so it's just like you want. Great job, can't wait for the next
Hello Aaron what a awesome build, you guys did a great job. can you tell me the dimensions of your bed length and width. I am getting ready to build a bed for our 670.
Great Job! Didn't realize you did it yourselves. You had to saved a bundle by doing it this way. Lucky you were able to have access to a shop and equipment! I liked the music in the video. Of course Collins sez where's his movie star grrrlfriend???
Thank you and yes, we were lucky to have the facilities and did save some money. It was a great project for us to do together. :) Maggie was at home napping. LOL Safe Travels
Aron - Awesome work. I think I saw the main frame channels as 3 1.2" x 3/16" Sq.Tubing. What are you using for the deck frame? 3" x 3/16" Sq Tubing? It also looks like you have a box area behind each rear tires, what is that for? Thanks. I hope to be doing the same this time next year. I also plan on doing myself. Keep up the good work.
Hey Benny. We used 4" x 4" schedule 40 (that may be 3/16, not sure) tubing for the main rails down the length of the frame and then 2.5" x 2.5" schedule 40 tubing for all the cross pieces. Those box areas are tool boxes that we lined with 14 gauge steel sheet and then we seamed sealed them from the inside to make them weather tight. We ended up covering that in 3/16 diamond plate you'll see in one of the next episodes. Congrats on your upcoming build. Thanks for your encouragement too, I appreciate it. Stay tuned for more. Safe Travels
@@JonesN2Travel Sure will...we live your videos...we are currently debating between a large Class A diesel pusher or a bigger 5th with a HDT. We have 2 x 100 lbs labs so have to consider how they will travel on move days and once at a site.
@@dankarau2307 Thank you so much for that. We appreciate you following along. We talked long and hard about getting a motor coach but we really love fifth wheels because of the ceiling height and overall there's just more space. So instead we decided to get an HDT for the safety and now we can tow as large a fifth wheel as we want :) Its a tough decision but you'll get it lol Thanks again. Safe Travels

Glad to see y’all moving forward it’s great to have an asset like that shop available to y’all
Thank you. :) Yes, we could not have done all that without the facility. Thanks again. Safe Travels
Very cool! Can’t wait to see the finish product!
Thanks. It turned out better than I could have hoped so stay tuned. :) Safe Travels
it nice to not have to worry about that extra weight!! that bed has to be every bit of 1000 lbs when it is done, very nice job.
Hey Mike. Yeah, its probably closer to 1500 pounds with the diamond plate. It makes the truck ride much smoother too :) Safe Travels
Great video!

Aron, what size of tubing did you use for you main rails on the bed that attach to the tractor frame?
Hi Brian, Sorry for the delayed response. The tubing is 4x4. Safe Travels
Get the MIG welding guy an auto darkening helmet !
He's old school for sure. Thanks for watching. Safe Travels
Where did you the awning for the rv that shows on the beginning of the video when it’s raining??
Looken good. see you soon
Thank you. See you soon. Safe Travels
I haven't quite figured out why all these RV hauler trucks need a big heavy bed. A platform for the SMART car would suffice.
Thanks for following along. We love how our bed turned out and the built in storage is very handy. :) Safe Travels

HI Aron Looking at the start of the Video did you first had the back frame extended to fit the new RV Fifth wheel?
Thanks for checking out the video. Yes, I had the extension done first so we could mount the hitch. Safe Travels

Where did you buy your truck rails
the end of the bed is not to long is when you attempt tight turns?
No, the RV has about 80 inches from the pin to the front of the trailer so no clearance issues. :) Thanks for checking out the video. Safe Travels
@@JonesN2Travel awesome
What size tube did you use?
👍👍
Thanks Mike. Safe Travels
wondering what ever happened you guys ok or took a different path
