So many forces going on though, you would need a computer brain to run a real life version. Seeing the model coming about, remaining stable on foils and accelerating around the bouy.... Incredible So incredible I had too re-watch it again and again.
Nice video, thanks! I am researching yacht models to solidify my ideas for a self-designed project. I almost completed a mono-hull but my friend strongly suggested that I go the multi-hull route. So now I am thinking catamaran. I don't think that the mid hull of a trimaran is needed apart from aesthetics in a model yacht but maybe I am missing something?
Hello. Briefly, there are a couple of points to consider when deciding on catamaran or trimaran. Catamaran +ve Only 2 hulls - should be lighter -ve 1/ Where will you house the winch, battery and rudder servo? Must people sailing cats make a central nacelle (above the water) for housing the battery, winch and rudder servo and receiver. Risk here is that since it higher than the hulls when upright, it becomes the lowest part of the boat when capsized so there is a greater risk of getting your electrics wet in a capsize since you cannot make the nacelle 100% water tight with sheet lines running from the winch 2/ Are you going to have 1 rudder or 2 for the cat? 2 is more complicated, and 1 requires a stiff nacelle running to the back of the boat to mount the rudder 3/ mast compression loads need to be catered for on the centreline. How will you do this? Trimaran +ve Good for keeping electrics dry Easy to mount a single rudder Best for mounting the mast and taking the loads Better at tacking since the boat spins around the rocker of the central hull Easier to fit cross beams -ve Likely to be slightly heavier Need to build 3 hulls Hope that helps Best regards
Very impressive and stable foiling! What airfoil/hydrofoil did you use? Do you use different foils for different wind speeds and therefore take off speeds?
It's all looking very positive. It's been great to see you working through the problems and sharing your progress.

@@PerthMini40man Great food for thought, thank you!

Great! What sorts of speeds do you achieve? Absolute and relative to wind speed?
Hello. 34kph is the fastest we have recorded when we had a gps tracker on board ua-cam.com/video/OciSOzQ8xlk/v-deo.html
Hi whats the price on your trimarans?
Hello, currently we are not producing kits, but I am looking at a new supplier
Lol “metre”
the hulls are 100cm long
