I purchased this cassette years ago for $1.99 after shuffling through the bargain bin at a local record store. The pure joy and listening pleasure I have received for only two dollars. Thank you Rick Wakeman for bringing music and beauty to your loyal fans for over 50 years. Love from Chicago.
Country Airs is a masterpiece to me. I prefer the sound of the original album but enjoy both versions. Thanks so much to share your emotions through your immense talent
In 1971 I found "Fragile" which was amazing then in 1972 "Close to the Edge". My world of music turned upside down from what went before. Luckily saw Yes in its best lineup for me, and have followed both Rick and Yes since that day. I am extremely thankful for living at a time when great musicians came together and produced such fantastic music.
I'm a big fan of Rick... his musical skill is very beautiful and he is an expert at playing keyboards at that time. I appreciate the caption. regards...
Hi Rick. We met at your show at the Greek theater in Taormina, a few years ago. I had the pleasure to greet and you signed a couple of CDs for me. We had a short exchange about Chris' departure. Your music is a constant source of inspiration to me, in a world I understand less and less, as time goes by. First time I've heard Fragile was in 1982, I think. From then on, I've started to love music and to take piano lessons. Now I'm in my fifties and I'm trying to pass over the love for music you taught me to my little son. I bought Country Airs on LP when it came out, then on CD and again on CD with a different cover. It is one of my favs in your production and I think I'm going to buy this last version too. I'll never stop to thank you for making my life better. I'm very happy about your well deserved success. Wish you well.
I have bought this album cassette back in 1987 or 1988 and I lost it in the 90s. Now I have the CD with electric piano, which I think is not as good as the original, with accoustic piano. This album is always be my favorite. I like Heather Carpets a lot. Thank you for such great songs.
This is my go-to album for feeling relaxed. You can see the trees, you can float along the stream. It's magic. I too had the confusing experience of buying it on cd after listening to the cassette for years, only to find that the sound was very different. Rick explains why on his website.
So relaxing. Beautifully composed and played. I went to RCM too! But never had this talent. Well done Rick. Hope RCM is proud of you......they bloody well should be!
Playing the album in the background. First time listening. Piano is my favorite instrument and Rick... Well, he's Rick. Thank you mr. Wakeman for sharing this. Perfect music fitting perfectly.
I'm so happy you put this on UA-cam. I got this album on vinyl but it wasn't in to good of shape, so I'm happy you put this on UA-cam in full fidelity.
I have compared this recording to my 1986 version and they are NOT the same. The '86 release has more depth, more artistry, more passion, more emotion, more notes. I wonder, could not the artist commission a digital remastering of the '86 recording and re-release ? And *all* of Mr. Wakeman's music is magic to me - making me even more glad to be alive, and alive now. I remember in high school when I first heard Round About -- oh my God . . .
I agree. I have the original CODA on vinyl in mint condition. A version so much versitile and delicate then this. Not to mention the one with electronic piano..... That one is awful, should never have been done.
Excellent album, as always. In fact, I like both this one and the "re-do' version with the digital piano. Different takes on the same music, and they're both lovely. It's worth having both. Nothing rivals "Chronicles of Man", though.
I purchased the CD when it came out. This post says "original version". I remember there being a story about CODA going out of business, and the original tapes being lost, and a recreation was made, that sounded significantly different. Please provide "the rest of the story". :-)
OMG! I was just telling a friend about this album today! I got the cassette when it was released and loved it! When it was released on CD I picked that up, too. Unfortunately, you didn't play it on an acoustic piano but rather electric keyboard of some sort. I have to say, I was very disappointed. Thankfully, I see you've re-released it in its original form. THANK YOU! By the way, Mr Wakeman, I'm curious: have you ever tried playing Ravel's "Scarbo"?
HOLA!
EL HEREJE Y IGNORANTE ERES TU HAY Q' TENER MAS SENSIBILIDAD PARA ESCUCHAR EL ROCK PROGRESIVO Y TODA SU EXPERIENCIA YA SI VAMOS COMO PIANISTA DEL GRUPO "YES" Y LUEGO COMO SOLISTA ESTA SU MAYOR CRECIMIENTO COMO MÙSICO....

I got this on vinyl when it came out. Still in pristine condition, and still just as great to listen to as it ever was.

RW teve obras épicas até 1.977. Depois "evoluiu" para Richard Clayderman...
Clayderman is an ok pianist, wakeman is god. Don`t confuse yourself
now if we can jut get someone to put up simply acoustic - rick's stories between songs are hilarious
