Continental GP4000’s 28mm x 700c with inner tubes, not tubeless or anything. I ran 80psi. No problems at all for either of us. Tyres were virtually new though!! I wouldn’t go any less than 28mm. I did it in 2019 as well but with 32mm tyres, they are a bit heavy on the road sections I thought.
For me it was my back, but I do suffer from an old motocross injury in that area. I guess hands, wrists and arms probably the most painful. With double bar tape not too bad though!
