Thanks for the review. I'm thinking about a bike trip in the next year or so and am considering this tent/bivy. I'd likely mix camping with hotels, so a small space a few times a week might work fine.

Thanks for watching my video. Definitely the price was right, just make sure you seal the seam, especially the corners. But it’s very compact, I’m 6’2” tall and it fit me fine…😁

This looks like an improvement over my Alpkit Elan which is just a little too low at the head.

Thanks for watching the video. Yes for a bivy tent there was a good amount room in there, just need to make sure you seam seal it before using it. Thanks again and HAPPY CAMPING…😀

@@GbacherAdventureChronicles I thought it WAS seam sealed
'that's ?? what you showed us in the video?

It was seam taped, not seam sealed. The leak was where the seam tape was not installed properly. Thanks again for watching the video. HAPPY CAMPING…😁

Very good video. The one thing I don't like about that bivi is that it seems impossible to fully stretch the fly. This will cause pool of water when raining.

Thanks for watching the video. Yes I would agree with you it is hard to tighten up the tent, especially if it rains. I did do a rain test on this tent and it did leak at the seams, but a little seam sealer and it was fine. Thanks again for watching the video and happy camping

Looks quite baggy in the middle, hows that affect the interior while its in a storm as far as water leaking? Hows the condensation?

    • @GbacherAdventureChronicles
      @GbacherAdventureChronicles  7 місяців тому +1

Thanks for watching the video. It will sag and touch your sleeping bag which can make your sleeping bag damp in a rain storm, mostly due to condensation. But I believe that's true with any single wall bivy style tent. Also while I was rain-testing the tent it did leak at the seams so you will need to seam-seal it if you're going to camp with it in wet weather. But for the price range, it makes sense to take the time to seam seal it. Thanks again for watching the video. Happy Camping!

the question remains. the GeerTop Bivy 2 or the Alpkit Elan?
i think they are about the same with eighter one you ll go. i feel like with the elan at least, it has a better build quality(?) even if is missing on some of the extra features the geertop has like feet vent also with poles.
which are you saying g-bacher if you where me right now ready to buy one?
anyway no matter which one im going to buy, i m thinking on buying a usb fan, i already have a powerbank, and let the smallish desk like fan run during the night to help me with the condensation, heard someone did this and it helped idk if it s really going to work but it s worth trying

Thanks for watching the video. I’m not very familiar Alpkit Elan because I haven’t had one test.
I did a couple of test nights with the GeerTop and it worked very well. However me being over 6’ tall it seamed to be a little to cramped, and I dealt with some condensation issues even with the two vents at the head and foot, but it’s hard to control condensation in a single wall tent.
So I’m trying out the GEERTOP Ultralight Blazer 1 Bivy Tent which is a little bit bigger tent and has more headroom and is a double wall tent which I think will control condensation better. Of course it’s a little heavier but not that much.
I will be making a test night video on that tent in the near feature, please stay tuned.
Also did have a leak in the tent after a rain test night but I was able to take care of that with seam seal, being a $100.00 tent I figured I would have to do that any way.
Thanks again for watching the video and HAPPY CAMPING…😁

@@GbacherAdventureChronicles thanks for the reply, it has a lot of insight.
the GEERTOP Ultralight Blazer 1 looks very practical and good, just looked at it.
i wrote the comment above but now honestly i ve shifted my view at the Alton Walkabout Swag. even with the price point and that is made in Australia. has some next gen waterproof fabric with breathability (it doesn t get more perfect for a bivy). when i first i looked at it i was like " well.. where are the ventilation windows? i don t get it" ahah. it must be that good, the reviews are very good on it also.+ it has very good warranty and the company is known for making really good stuff, so i might as well buy it and have it for a very very long time.

Thanks for getting back with me. That is a very interesting tent, seams pricey but it appears to be a very well built and a step up in technology. If you buy it please let me know how you like it.
I just got back from an overnight test on the GeerTop Beaver 1 tent and I was actually quite impressed with it. Video coming soon, please stay tune.
Thanks again for watching the video.
