The issue is they paid Aiyuk....now they won't be able to pay anyone else. They barely use Aiyuk...what a waste of talent and cap space.

Don’t write checks that your ass can’t cash. Demo is better than ward. This team needs speed and power of ROOKIES. It makes no sense to keep players that are on their last breath but are worth draft picks or freeing up money for standouts in other positions

The issue right now for the defense is to have more support for Warner. Big fast linebackers who can both help stop runs or pass rush. The reason we fell off a little when Greenlaw was injured

Yup, that’s a great point. Gotta get Dre back and develop Winters or find the next guy

I'm actually impressed with Green Mustalha and Ward I'm more for keeping Ward and maybe releasing Hufanga and I think Deebo will be moving on which is sad but I understand I'm glad we got to have him in the team .

This is Mooney’s contract year. I’m amazed he’s been so unprepared for the challenge. Don’t see 49ers getting into a bidding war for him. They will pay Deemo and should.

Ward hasn't been playing for a big contact he's gonna want. They can let him go after this year, cause he been slipping

Ward will be swapped for Green. Save money.
      Hargrave Has to GO!
Unfortunately Jennings will be a chess piece

is your "49ers cant pay everyone" bit based on actual knowledge of the cap situation or are you just assuming that is the case?

Great question! Cap space looks AMAZING right now but next year and the following year it’s really bad. Our current 53 would put us over the cap for next year and that’s not including paying guys who are entering free agency

@@syedishrak8092 Next year we will need to pay Purdy $55-60 million and other players coming off their rookie contracts will be looking for the bag. To keep veterans and have all of the guaranteed money is unsustainable. That’s just dinning room economics

@@SportsTalkSanFrancisco Also looking back all of the way to the Walsh days many of the players we are holding on to would have been moved and traded while there is still value. Even Rice was traded and still delivered for their team but reached for speed and youth

@@SportsTalkSanFrancisco per otc we have about 256mil in cap liabilities (top 51) and the 2025 cap is projected to rise to at least 260mil. warner and kittle both are ripe to restructure which buys another ~21mil. hargrave, ygm, and floyd are good targets for june 1 cuts.
Let's say purdy gets trevor lawrence contract - his cap hit for the first 3 seasons will still be way under 60 million. lawrence cap hits are 15mil in 24, 17 mil in 25, 24 mil in 26, and 35 mil in 27. aka not a big deal.
the tough part re demo is gonna be signing him without having the luxury of tagging him and waiting it out until august to get a deal done.
we can take our cap medicine in 2026, but luckily we dont have any big time free agents to re-sign that year.

@@mrlh61 too bad there can't be a couple Tom Brady types where they hold off of demanding a bunch of money to stay on SF that is at SB level. There's a lot of greed. (I think franchises should pay more, but it's the cap that holds every team back.) If a player wants to go to the highest buyer, he may never step for on a SB field again. Just my thoughts as they always have been.

  • @d.m.1421

For whatever stupid reason(s), we can't beat BAL or KC, rather the officials/NFL against us or not. It's ridiculous. Went is it that KC gets a bye again before they play us? Oh, DAL has their bye before they play SF the following week. Wow, the NFL hates SF.
I will add, we can't beat MIN either, but I haven't seen the officials/NFL interfere in any of those games. Clear evidence of it in those 2 inter-conference games.

@@d.m.1421 I think it is clear that the defense plays best when it has three fast powerful and vigilant linebackers. Sure things fell off a little when it was just Warner, Greenlaw and Al Shaair. Missing players like Buckner who in my opinion should retired a 49er.
