  • What are the Biblical signs of the end times? Did Jesus really tell us in Matthew 24, Luke 21, and Mark 13 ("the Olivet discourse") what would take place on earth just prior to His near return? How should a Christian respond in light of these last days signs? Watch the full video for more. #endtimes #prophecy #bible

** Please note the choice to refer to the geo-political state of the holy land during the first century CE as “1st century Palestine” has nothing to do with the currently Middle East conflict, or attributing territory to a particular ethnicity, rather it is based on the considerations below. The terminology reflects a complex academic and historiographical debate and should be understood in its scholarly context:
    1. Historical Accuracy: The use of "1st century Palestine" is often seen as a more historically accurate term. During the 1st century CE, the region was known as "Judea" or "Judaea" and was a Roman province. However, by the time of the Bar Kokhba Revolt (132-136 CE), the Romans renamed the region "Syria Palaestina" after the Jewish-Roman Wars. Thus, "Palestine" was a term in use during the 1st century, especially after the Roman suppression of the Jewish revolts.
    2. Avoiding Anachronism: Referring to the region as "Israel" in a 1st century context can be considered anachronistic because the modern state of Israel did not exist during that time. Using "Israel" may imply anachronistic interpretations or connotations that are not historically accurate.
    3. Inclusivity: Using "Palestine" can be seen as more inclusive, encompassing the diverse religious, ethnic, and cultural groups in the region during the 1st century. It does not prioritize one specific religious or national identity. It is a way of acknowledging that the region was home to multiple communities and traditions during that time.
    4. Academic Convention: Many academic works, especially in the fields of biblical studies, biblical literature, and ancient history, have adopted the term "1st century Palestine" to align with current scholarly conventions and terminology.

    Awesome sermon, Colby ❤🙌👏
I know people who always thinks that the world is going to end with every war or natural disaster that’s reported 😜…When reading about the Davidic kings and all the thousands and thousands who could be slaughtered in one day in their day, I often think that we have a long time to go before Christ comes again. But it’s also really hard to believe that the world isn’t ending soon with all the awful, horrendous and catastrophic events that are going on at the moment. 😢😢😢 It frightens me that things are only going to get worse and more intense in time before the end times. Whenever the heralding of the end of the world or eschatology is mentioned, I always think of the snow melting in Narnia, indicating summer is coming ☀️ The signs are there, especially as you talk of false prophets, (discernment is required, especially on social media 😳😬), and I didn’t know about the man who believes he is the messiah in Mexico!
I love how you talk of ‘here and not yet’. People often ask me why don’t we just go to heaven now, as soon as we are saved? What’s the point of sticking around? …Because we have to take as many people with us as possible and do the work of Him on Earth. We are not to evacuate this world, nor are we to just focus on the life to come. I’m paraphrasing but C.S. Lewis said that when you care so much about eternity, it makes this life so much more important, not less so. How you feel about the next life totally affects how you live NOW. What we do here matters. And matters for eternity. I love what your friend said about why do we call Christian gatherings ‘retreats’??!!! We should call them advances! Love it 😍 Never thought of it like that before!
We are His hands and feet on earth. God’s gifts to us are our talents and abilities; what we do with them are our gifts to Him, (attributed to Leo Buscaglia. I really love his the concept of humanity's need for hugs: 5 to survive, 8 to maintain, and 12 to thrive 😃).
It’s been a scary wake up call to know that I am not using my gifts to further the kingdom of God, but I changing that now!
I loved what you were saying about suffering too. Yes, we don’t understand fully why there had to be so much suffering in this world. Yes, some is caused by sin, disobedience, other people’s actions etc but some comes out of nowhere and makes no sense. I read somewhere that suffering ‘is wanting what you don’t have and/or having what you don’t want.’
Maybe that is the point of suffering (because I know that there is always a reason and that it grieves God to see us suffering, (Lamentations 3:33) - total surrender and obedience to God. Our not wanting anything unless it is given to us from heaven, and being grateful for all that we have.
The rain falls on the righteous and the unrighteousness alike. We are all in the same fallen world. Suffering is universal - everyone has stubbed their toe or had a paper cut. But why some people suffer so much and others seem to get away lightly I will never understand. We sail the sea of life but some of us are in ocean liners, whilst others are in makeshift rafts…and everything in between. Some people are on calm seas and others are caught in force ten gales. Some people get rescued, some are shipwrecked, some perish and drown. As God explained to Job, what do we know if the workings of the universe??? It all comes back to trusting in God. Trust. Obedience. Surrender. Trust in the Lord and do good…ie use your gifts and help others. Psalm 37:3. Go out into the world and make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19).
One thing that I’ve never really noticed before today is that fact that we are ‘not to be alarmed’ is something that jumped out at me when you were talking about Matthew 24:6. ‘For this most take place but it is not the end yet, merely the beginning of the birth pains.’
That has been a great comfort, especially with all the evil and destruction in the world at the moment. We should not be worried, but driven by compassion to ease what suffering we can and save as many souls as we can. One of my all-time favourite verses, (and yes, I have a lot of them too lol 😆), is Matthew 24:35:
“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.”
Eternity is here but not yet. What we can achieve now has everlasting consequences. 🕊️❤️
‘For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.’ 1 Corinthians 3:9

the only way to God is through Jesus Christ. To become saved, one just has to believe in the Lord and put their faith and trust in him alone. John 3:16 is perfect for ya :)

And follow him and trust that his way is better. His plans are perfect. And if you give in to temptation you are okay. Go to God with all your sins and stuff and ask that he has mercy and ask him to show you his grace.

    JESUS IN THE WILDERNESS EXPLAINED:
HEBREWS 4:15 IS SAYING SATAN CAME AT JESUS, JUST AS HE DOES EVERYONE. BUT AT ALL POINTS, JESUS NEVER ONCE CONSIDERED OR EVEN CONTEMPLATED ANYTHING OF SATAN-NOT EVEN FOR A MOMENT. JESUS KNOWS SATAN IS A MURDERER AND A LIAR. IF JESUS HAD CONSIDERED SATAN’S LIES, HE WOULD HAVE SINNED. JESUS WAS WITHOUT ANY SIN; JESUS HAS IT ALL AND SATAN HAS NOTHING. MAN WILL SAY JESUS WAS TEMPTED, BUT GOD’S WORD SAYS GOD CANNOT BE TEMPTED, NEITHER CAN JESUS, BECAUSE THEY ARE INSEPARABLY IN AGREEMENT; THEY ARE ONE (JOHN 10:30).
