Crazy how another tune creates such a different meaning of the song! While Lenas version sounded more like a girl being head over heals in love which felt positive in the way the song is sung, this version sounds more like a hopeless relationship mayve even toxic relationship, even though the songtext stayed the same 🤯
I'd say Lenas song was like a teenage girls idolized love for a hot adult guy who's kinda flirting with her, but not really being serious. And this version is 13 years later, the teenage girl grew up and can't idolize her now obsessive love for the not so hot anymore middle aged man who is not flirting anymore but takes her for granted cause she's always around him anyway. Like taking off the rose tinted glasses and being greeted by reality with a fist in your face.
"I even painted my toenails for you" Pi's face "Yup, that's love right there." Overall lovely cover, and I am in love with Gerald's red nail polish just beautiful the lot of you
I’m not sure if the original version by Lena was about toxic love / oppression. Unfortunately unhealthy relationships are glorified in music way too often, and she sings it so happily 🫤
@@xydoit2024 yeah. But musicians often sing depressing stuff in a happy tone, and I personally believe that sometimes they don’t even notice how f-ed up what they’re singing is. Just like when you’re in a toxic relationship it can be hard to see and acknowledge it! Edit: meaning that the words have always been worrisome, but the intent while singing also matters, and I’d love to know how Lena interprets her song! :)
@@emdove As far as I recall, the original was meant to represent teenage love; the kind where they spend an hour telling each other to break the connection first. The main character in the song is more in love with the idea of being in love than in love with the person. The sentences like "I even painted my toenails for you, I just did it the other day" were meant to emphasise the childishness of the main character, and to make her an unreliable narrator. So I don't think you should worry too much about the song in the original context. I do agree that as a more serious song, these lyrics are a bit...
They performed a few verses of the song on Unser Lied für Liverpool and I was thinking if they will present a full version of the cover. It's kinda comic to see a metal band doing a pinky girly song, but this is brilliant job nevertheless!
OMG IT'S FINALLY DONE!!!!!! (says the person that had uploaded the very few seconds performance from the German selection event, wishing for a full version eventually)
@@CineShinya Well, I also enjoyed that tiny bit they played during the Preliminary Show :-) afterwards, I wanted to listen to it again and found the short video clip you did and posted on UA-cam. We both finally got what we wanted ;-) thanks, LOTL ! Thanks for your wishes, have a great month too !
There were two versions of this song in Germany's preselection. One was this slow one sung by another young female singer whose name I forgot. At least they chose Lena with that up tempo version that won the ESC in 2010. Great stuff, anyway.

The tune is pretty much the same. It's the voice and intonation that are different.

These guys never cease to amaze me, beautiful cover!! 🥰🎧🎶🎼❣️🤘
Beautiful interpretation of this song. First time I understand what it's about. How easily one can mistake oppression for love.

@@emdove he change the music. Not the words.

Is there a grey area between Love and Obsession?
I love how they've made this song sound sinister.
Big yawn.😂
