this is so delicate and intimate. i feel like im just watching her practice and rehearse.like i do all alone in my room when i know nobody is listening.
Just rediscovered this after almost a decade due to Cat's closing song on The Great. First time I saw it/listened, I put on the best headphones I owned and went on a journey with her. Just did the same thing this time and I love every guitar-pick drag and every authentic pause and for a moment remembered what it was like to play for myself and lose myself in it and the love of playing. Thank you Cat and for posing this again. Brings on all the secret memories of those perfect unexpected conversations and moments and coffee house best-friends-for-a-moment-that-will-surely-last-forever-but-definitely-won't-but-that's-OK-because-we-shared-that-moment...tears for those moments are never wasted. Cheers
Music, Nature. The things I love more. A woman I've never met, and the one I love. I wish that wind brings you part of my love and I wish that it brings to me your voice to warm my heart.
The song starting at 7:36, titled "You" on this release (the track before "Knockin' on Heaven's Door"), and reprised on track 9, was later titled "The Moon" on The Greatest album release. The Memphis Rhythm Band and live version with Dirty Delta Blues band were essentially the same as Chan's here, just a bit more polished with more tasty guitar fills. One of my favorites. Here, Chan seems to be working out some of her well known issues with stage fright. Seems like her entire style changed after this recording. By 2006 she began singing more with her jaw jutting out fiercely, experimenting with vocal interpretations and even dancing around. A whole new Chan came out of these trees.
The Paralex View it changed bc she stopped drinking. she was sober for the next album. you are free she was struggling to keep her head above water not just with addiction but mental illness. ...I love it when it's just her n her silvertone.
youtube algorithm sends me dozens of vids with ‘binaural beats’ and ‘isochronic tones’ to support my mental health. I find this one with some crickets and a beautiful voice.
I bought this album combo when I moved out of my folks house and it got me through some hard times. one of my prized possessions. it came with a booklet as well. fans if Chan should seek it out most definitely. 😊
Because I have made it through the terrible nightmare that is awaking hell reality because of this woman's voice ‼ That we are able to accept the terrified cries of our frightening lives only with love and empathy of another humans pain is the greatest thing we have ! Thanks my family
it was a special cd/dvd combo recorded in ny state around the time of the you are free album. the dvd film is a single shot about two hours long of chan singing and playing..
Can anyone here tell me which number Cat plays from 19:00. And can I find another version her at UA-cam. It's a very good melody and some real fine chords.
I discovered Cat Power after seeing the video for He War on a Mtv 120 min type show on Italian tv when I was in Italy. Will never forget how exciting and cool she was. Moment I got back to states I went out a bought You Are Free. That was some twenty years ago. I've been hooked ever sense. Thank you Chan for all your music. Love you.
Heaven, absolute heaven. Thank you so much princess ❤️ Xx
For me, as a fan of trees, nature and Cat Power, this is very relaxing
