    Sounds super crystal clean and articulate....like everything RJ plays... seriously... 😆..I love the tele twang to it...reverb and delay gives it super wide spaces to reflect the harmonics..it's awesome..I want to play one

    I ordered one of these Eastwood Newport Tenor guitars and received it about a week and a half ago, love the sound and it only weighs 5 lbs. Beautiful craftsmanship and the intonation was perfect. They come with GDAE tuning.

      Cool! I missed the pre-order, but I found a brand new one at a shop in East Nashville. Just waiting on UPS to arrive.

      What does the neck feel like? Is it a very strange transition to move to this if you're used to regular six strings, or does it feel fairly natural? (Hearing that these are only 5 pounds makes it all the more tempting.)

      @@calvinlee8103 I ended up pretty disappointed with this one. Sold it on already. They used a bass bridge spacing on this model so the strings are much too far apart the entire length of the neck. It just feels weird with guitar strings spaced this wide.

    It’s a really cool guitar. I dig how the pickup is in the neck position as opposed to being at the bridge like most single pickup guitars. The more i see this guitar the more i want one! I’ve watched this video more than a few times now lol. I’ll wind up talkin myself into one before it’s said and done. I know me, i know how i operate lol.

      There are many videos on Tenor Guitars out there on UA-cam. They were popular in the first half the 20th Century, in the early Jazz scene for Banjo players transitioning to Guitar, and the Folk & Country music scene also for the same reason, or the opposite, Guitarists looking to switch to a more simple instrument for easier playing. They have had a small resurgence in the modern Folk & Indie music scenes I've heard, and they also very usable for Classical as well as it is a very versatile instrument depending on how you tune it.
      There is no one standard tuning for these instruments, but the 4 most common I've seen are Octave Mandolin tuning (GDAE as seen here), Fifths tuning (CGDA) , Chicago tuning (same as 4 high strings on regular Guitar - Dgbe) & any Open chord tuning.

    is it tuned as un ukulele ?

    • @boriscat1999
      @boriscat1999 Рік тому +1

      specs says GDAE. so like an octave mandolin (tuned in fifths). In the vid you can see lots of pinky stretches in the chords he's playing and fewer barre chords. That's pretty normal on a fifths-tuned instrument. The stretches are easier on a shorter scale instrument like a mandolin but do able on a large tenor guitar. Remember, Viola and Cello players manage with even longer scale instruments and are using the same tunings. The adjustable bridge means you should be able to do "chicago tuning" which is a tenor guitar tuning that matches a baritone ukulele, DGBE. Adjustment is necessary because you would use different string thicknesses for a different tuning, and you will need the adjustment for intonation. Any decent guitar shop can do this setup.

    I can play that on my strat and sound exactly like that. If you could tell the difference I’ll give you the strat…no i really wouldn’t. But really it sounds the same. The only reason i can see that i would need one is simply because i NEED every guitar i see! It’s really a sickness!

    • @calvinlee8103
      @calvinlee8103 2 роки тому

      It's less about getting a specific tone that you can only achieve with a tenor, and more about finding different voicings and playing styles that one wouldn't normally think to play on a standard 6-string. (It's also for violin and mandolin players that want to get the tone of a guitar, but without having to re-learn all of the fingerings that they're familiar with.)

    Great! If they only gave up on the notion that we’d want a bass guitar bridge with ridiculous spacing on a tenor. Face palm every time.

    • @rcf56em
      @rcf56em 2 роки тому

      Great playing. Eastwood were so close with this model: at least they got the 10th fret position dot right this time. I’ve been very near to buying many of their tenor models, but I know that I just couldn’t get along with the extra wide string spacing. That failing, plus the fact that most of their tenor models have 9th fret position markers, often coupled with a really cheapskate choice of pickups ie using 6 pole pickups on a four string instrument; likewise on some of the instruments with tailpieces. I wonder if those vintage adjustable/slotted bass or tele saddles would work to close the spacing up a bit?

    • @MrChristopherPayne

      I had one on pre order from the get go until I saw the string spacing. The wide spacing really ruined it for me so I got an airline map instead. Really wish they made this one with the narrow spacing.
