Nothing like the smell of roasting chestnuts! And the taste is exquisite. They used to warm my hands, hot from the street vendor in Manhattan New York City when I was a boy! So much the better there in Sicily!
I use them to warm my hands too in the winter:)

Very funny earing the chestnuts seller and him dialect comment "dici, dici..... basta ca dici!" translation: she talks, talks, for her it seems important only talking (thinking 'but I understood nothing' ) 😂😂.

No fresh artichokes or chestnuts ... only dried or preserved in June :) BUT plenty of mulberry, cheries GALORE , strawberries, melons , oh and the many varieties of peaches and plums !
