  • well after long awaited anticipation we finally know what our piston to valve clearance is on our 302 tunnel ram nitrous sbf engine build!
    and we also know what our piston to deck clearance is which turns out to be a huge surprise!
    our factory forged stock Pistons are actually going to work with our AFR Renegade 165cc (ported & with the bigger 2.02 intake valve) aluminum heads with very slight flycut polishing!
    and with some quick math our compression ratio is going to end up north of 10:1 we might even have room for 1.7 rocker arms increasing our total lift to around .542in
    all good news!!

    Just watched another video, JD Rods. Home made piston fly cutting tool, simple and very effective. Great to see you're getting there with the little bent Ford V8...

    That just goes to show that the best advice is measured advice, they were sooooo sure that it wasn't even close to working and now look, you were fixing to run iron heads that u really didn't want especially with a set of AFRs sitting there 🤦‍♂️ but now the ol Iron horse is about to be hell on wheels. Glad it worked out for you

    Told you you'd be surprised that that would probably work and just think if you're piston was down in the hole like normal you'd be golden. Definitely worth checking 👍

    Looking good. I check my valve to piston w/o a gasket just for good measure.

      Piston sticks above the bore about .003in so it wont rotate without the gasket 😅

    Also joe Sherman said it was like having a .300 longer rod.

    Isky Piston Notching Cutters. These got expensive in the 35 years since I used them.

    Did the rod also get turned around with the piston?

    • @newguysgarage6802
      @newguysgarage6802  4 місяці тому

      No we simply are swapping the pistons and rods to the other side of the engine and turning them around

      @@newguysgarage6802 Oh I C...do you swap 5 and 4 or just side to side like 1 and 5 ?

    • @newguysgarage6802

      @@jcnewbee8124 honestly so long as you have the chamfered side of the rod against the cheek of the crank journal it doesn't matter 😅
