I’ve listened to G-Eazy since 2013. The quality of his music has dropped dramatically. This album just solidifies that. I completely agree with you. This album is all over the place and i wish I could defend this. He’s gotta go back to the drawing board.
i was pretty excited when tulips & roses came out last year and expected the next album to sound somewhat like his older stuff then he completely ditched that sound lol
Every artist makes multiple songs that don't make the cut, it's part of the album making process. The fact that these were the tracks chosen seem very lackluster and lack creativity at least to me.
by far the worst “album” I’ve heard in years. the guy is just ruining his career at this point. He’s trying so hard to be edgy but it just comes off cringe as fuck
Yeah idk what his intended goal of this was, even just trying to sit through a few of the songs on repeat listens is really hard to get through. Thanks for watching though 🙏
It's a good album, not his best but it still slaps. I don't think his career is over. Just saw him in concert on the 12th and he rocked the place. Still a fan
He really needed to go out with his highs now he will be remembered for the garbage he put out at the very end I can’t believe the team around him are cool with letting him put that crap out there
Yeah its not looking good, I saw projections of it selling 6k-9k but I suspect that it's even worse then that. I expect a return to a These Things Happen sound with the next album.
@@snowchild9837yeah, because I mean to be honest, if he drops another bad album after this, there’s no recovering and his career as he’s known it is essentially done. He’s already fallen off pretty damn hard. Any further and he will forever be relegated to the land of the forgotten. And from a radio interview he did I watched that was just uploaded 2 days ago, I could tell from his demeanor that he knows this album was not well-received. He seemed kind of down to be honest. I guess we’ll have to wait and see whether or not this is the last time we ever discuss him..
@ynobigreck Fake? I'm from South Korea and I've been a fan of his since no one here knew him. And yet, G has never even been to Korea. He took his freedom, but the result was not what the fans wanted. Take a step back and look at reality, my friend.
The fact that he knows Origami was hard... G-Eazy IS like MGK- both will sell their souls (aka Diddy, nail polish, etc) for fame. That said, MGK can fkn flow. Buuut, G-Eazy had so many classics and even on 10/12/24, he still put on a KILLER CONCERT. NO MAKEUP either! And he's STILL FINE ASF!
The part that kills me the most is the album not having the same idea or like overall aesthetic throughout. TTH had the "come up story". WIDO was the "I'm living life to the fullest with my success". TBAD was "this seems fun but things aren't easy and I have a drug problem". AND EVEN TTH2 had the "I've kind of fallen off but its fine I got money and I still get girls". and then freak show is a mix of songs that don't belong together. g eazy's always had this fear to constantly change and grow as an artist which is cool but hes done it in the wrong way. instead of improving his rapping talent and ability to muster up great tracks hes just went retarded and created shitty emotionless music. His confidence is also at an all time low and you can hear it in his music. He doesn't do drugs anymore, hes aging pretty bady, he has like 100 tats all over his body, his sound is gone, he has hardly any fans. very few big names wanna work with him. Hes just turned into a loser who cant get it together.
Agree on all fronts, he just sounds tired and uninspired. I really like the run from TTH to TBAD and there was a hunger there. In contrast to now tho it's pretty much an entirely different artist and I don't think it's something he's gonna come back from but who knows.
I’m saying the same thing I can’t believe no one else posted on this.. I was always willing to give G a chance because he really did hit the pod casts to try and promote the album himself but not sure what is going on with his label or if he’s even still signed.. regardless the last 2 years of music from him has been terrible..
Yeah I saw a bunch of them once I put out the review. It seemed that he put in the legwork to get the project off the ground but there was nothing else besides that. Maybe what's best for him now is to go independent because RCA is doing nothing for him.
Yeah 2019 was around the time Scary Nights dropped which is a pretty good EP but also the time he started to have this identity crisis in his sound that has evolved into this which is very unfortunate. Thanks for watching tho I appreciate you giving the time 🙏
Almost every song after 'The Beautiful and Damned' has been awful. The most recent song that was good was 'Time' from TTHT, However the likes of 'Anxiety' having a terrible up beat riff does not suit him AT ALL.
To follow this, the best song that he has released in the past 3 years has been 'Break from LA freestyle' which is 100% the direction/aura that we miss from him. 🙏 With a strong mention to the likes of 'At Will' which went reasonably hard. Also 'Legends Never Die' & 'No Sleep' which are unreleased tracks that are fire.
As a project it’s definitely not. He would have done better just chopping a few of these songs off and just dropping random singles while he worked on something bigger and better
Hey bro, so I'd definitely day this is still more of a rap album, so the first 4-5 tracks do tend to go more aggressive. Once it hits South Of France tho is where it does go softer in it's sound at least for me. So that point towards the end would be something that you may like more. Don't let my negative review deter you though, if you're interested definitely try it on your own cuz you may like it a lot more than I do 🙏 Thank you for watching as well!
What is your take on "In my Head" ? I agree with everything you said but this song is like he is trying to come back to the "old" G-eazy we used to love & we constantly ask for, although it seems like it still doesnt hit the way tother songs from TTH do. Idk sometimes i notice that maybe his voice has gotten so worse from cocaine and smoking that he cant rap clearly anymore. One last thing i would like to add is that he has so many unreleased songs that could literally save him ( Otherside, Bad meets Evil, Guns n Roses ,The otherside, waspy 2 etc), and still he didnt include any of them in the Freak Show.
Hey man, thanks for the comment and the watch through. I relistened to the track, and what I'll say is that the song is definitely one of the stronger ones on the album. It has an idea and keeps a consistent structure. The problem I have with it still though, is that it still sounds very generic, the beat is rather bland, and G-Eazy still is having a problem sounding motivated on these songs. It definitely does sound like something from a few albums ago where there was more ambition and drive. I even went back and listened to The Beautiful And Damned which is my favorite G-Eazy album, and the difference is insane. About the unreleased tracks, that's what I always find frustrating, not just with G-Eazy, but with a lot of artists where unreleased tracks often times sound so much better then the actual released material and we get songs like Femme Fatale and Anxiety instead. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching once again 🔥
Im a xasual fan but i love G easy. Even loved these happen 2. But the promotion and lack of hype, had no idea. I really thought these songs were old over new beats lol
Anxiety and In My Head were the only 2 songs that I liked. The rest of the album is forgettable. Can't blame the guy though, you can only make so many hits. Maybe he'll come back with something better next time. You never know.
I completely disagree with the MGK statement. MGK is very talented as much as people hate on him. This G Eazy album tho is very dull. You may be right about HIM being creatively bankrupt but not MGK. MGK just dresses goofy and does crazy shit for shock value but music wise he is still very talented. I also disagree again on Everythings strange here. That was G Eazy last good project even though it’s not what I expected, it’s very good. Edit: commenting as I’m going through the video. Anxiety wasn’t as terrible as you make it out to be either. But I do agree that the album had no vision and was everywhere.
