The "Goblin" jet fighter. Saw it on display at the USAF Museum at Wright Patterson AFB back in the mid 1970's. Saw it and knew immediately what it was. And it was next to the B-36 on display. It did fly. It would be attacked to the bomber and then released to fight. And then return and reconnect to the bomber. One test accident was when the pilot smashed the canopy while trying to hook up. Needless to say, the plan to carry a fighter with the bomber or bombers was eventually dropped.
The Mk 17 is a thermonuclear device (hydrogen bomb) that was 20 feet long, 5 feet wide and weighed 40,000 pounds! The B 36 was the only aircraft capable of carrying it.
Narration sounds like it's Billy Bob Thornton.
Imitating Karl Childers ummm hmmm

Great video. Great airplane. Fantastic history story. Thanks for sharing.
"Six turning, four burning." ✈✈✈
"Two turning, two burning, two choking, two smoking...and two unaccounted-for"
outstanding video but the narrator sounds like Carlos Hathcock.....
Я считаю B 36 самым красивым самолетом за всю историю авиации.
Yes, it is unforgettable.
