Thank you, for showing this, I have a basket that was my grandmother's , she put her sewing needles, and buttons in it. Must be 150 years old.
Enjoyed this so much, thank you! It is a beautiful basket you’ve made.
Thank you!!! And thanks for watching
I recently stumbled across pine needle basket weaving and think it’s cool as hell…
It's awesome, tedious but the reward is worth it!!!
Great video, thanks for sharing this including the handle at the end, I haven’t seen many people show that!
I’m planning on making a coiled basket video using grass cordage rather than pine needle but I’m hoping it should be roughly the same 😅
Hey thanks!!! Basket weaving is one of my favorite bushcraft projects!! Good luck with your basket.
Great video! To the point and demonstration was easy to follow.
Awesome!!! Thank you!

That is so cool. You would be a valuable member of my Zombie Apocalypse team.
@KriekWorthy heck yeah!!! Thank you!!!
I'm confused why the string is endless
I'm not sure what you mean, i use about 8 feet of sinew at a time
@Bigfootsoutdooradventures OK thanks. I'll rewatch again. The end product is gorgeous😸
@journofay thank you!!
I collected some pine needles about 5 years ago and they were in a garden shed since. Do you think they would still be usable. They don't have any mold on them and they seem quite pliable.
Probably, as long as they have been kept dry they should be good to go. Remember to pour boiling water over them to get them pliable. Good luck and let me know if you need any help along the way!
@@Bigfootsoutdooradventures Thanks. I'm going to give it a try.
@booswalia So, did you try making a basket with your stored pine needles? Curious if they ended up being too brittle or too soft or whatever. I love making baskets like this! 🧺🪡🌲
@@LeonaLinscott-cy6dz Yes, I did try them but after I soaked them they became too soft and mushy and then as they dried they were too brittle. A more experienced weaver might have been able to make them work but getting a basket started, for me, was just too challenging. I'll have to collect some fresh ones this fall.
@booswalia Personally, I think that there is a sweet spot between wet from the soaking & dried out, which is what you want to be working with. There are also different needle ages on every branch. Collect what falls & good luck.
Good for hen houses as it kills the mites.
