Bach: the greatest composer of music ever. And Petri his disciple. This is just awesome in the sense that it inspires awe. Bravo Bach, Petri and bravo you tube for this gift.

Played with Petri's customary tonal clarity and lucid voicing. Maybe the ending of the second one particularly shows the influence of his teacher.

Far too unknown still! He was not included in the Philips series... while he arguably was one of the greatest pianists of the 20th Century. Only a couple of years ago, there was almost no recording available on UA-cam... thankfully, that has now changed.

BWV 688 score is also available in Barenreiter's edition of Kunst der Fuge (marked as 688a). I think it's almost identical to Petri's version, minus all those low register octaves he (and Busoni) seem to like.

Also in Phillips great piano series they did not include Annie Fischer , she is a truly great artist but so was Egon Petri and Horszowski both were great exponents of Bach .

Too bouncy for my taste.... It sounds like a little girl was so happy that she got a lolypop.

He has made another recording (also on you tube) - a slower intepretation. Both are excellent i find.

2:01 wrong chord! Should be Blat-C-Eflat-G instead of C-Eflat-G
