I love how real and genuine these episodes are...I know there's $$ in HGTV but I feel that losing control over the content, editing, and marketing would remove the relatable vibe and the ❤ of the show. What you're doing WORKS! This has become my favourite show.
I would watch you guys do anything honestly. Do what makes you happy! As for “flipping”, I think there’s a lot of bad flippers out there, but you guys doing quality work and deciding to not take a huge margin on it (since you’d be able to get content from it) wouldn’t be a bad idea! I also love the cottage idea.
I would like to see a tiny home transformation, or a shed-to-home conversion. I would especially love to see a cottage renovation! I hope that’s a possibility in your future too.
I wish you guys were making more off your content because it is next level! It’s like watching an HGTV show instead of a UA-cam video. Loving all your videos and you guys are so inspiring!! ❤
I love your porch, but really the title captures my favorite thing: getting rid of the split foyer entrance. Honestly, if a realtor had been showing me houses, I wouldn’t have even gone in the door of this one. Splits are a hard no for me. And even better I like how the stairs end up off to the side and out of the way. It’s not in the middle of the house. It’s not part of your living room. I love the final layout. NOW I’d buy it!😉 it’s a raised bungalow!
The series has been great! Your house has such good bones. My question would have been . You guys were so busy doing the renovations did you get to enjoy your pool and yard this summer! And the tree house! Can’t wait for the kitchen. My favorite part of inside is yes the fireplace but the built ins are amazing
I have loved watching your videos and the transformation! I’m in the US and a popular thing to build now is “granny pods”, so your parents can live close by and on your property but still have their independence. Check that market out! Similar to a tiny house but a little different.
Laneway homes! Helps with affordability for younger adults to get their own space, aging parents to avoid retirement homes but still have help, adds to the property value. Lots of wins! Also, the Kawarthas is an awesome spot for a cottage!
So happy to see this new episode! I’m glad you wouldn’t give up your freedom of doing these UA-cam episodes for a controlled (by someone else) environment. Love your videos so much. Happy 2025 🎉
loveeee the longer videos!! this q/a was great! thank you for answering everything so honestly. watching you guys flip tiny homes would be awesome. I live in alaska so tiny Travel homes aren't really a big thing because of the weather. but I bet in the warmer states it is.
This was lovely, you both are a joy to watch. I’m really looking forward to seeing the cabinet video, I need to replace some kitchen cabinets due to water damage and the ones we have are custom built (from the 60’s) so I don’t want to go use a big box store cabinet to replace them
I would definitely watch you two flip a tiny house, I'm splitting up with my husband this year so I will have to take on a small renovation but I won't be able to do anything like what you guys do ❤
I must share with you I decided to build a bench in my entryway, never built anything in my mind. Well, it took me a 1 1/2 year to get it done. 🤯 I’m 74 years old and a very OLD lady, but I can convince myself of (I know I can do it) that is what happens to old minds, so you kids are the BEST, and make me think I could do that, but I have no intention living to be 100, so I can finish it 🤪 it is fun to think I can, but my husband thinks I have lost my mind. I truly enjoy watching you create.
From what I've seen on the Internet it seems Canadians don't really like garages -- I'm glad you do. I have an extra deep and extra wide garage - still my favorite party of my house after 25 years.
For experienced DIY’er’s, projects are usually less expensive simply because the cost of labor isn’t usually figured into the cost of a project. You also have the “luxury” (to a point) of fewer time constraints or deadlines. I love what you did, and are doing, because you are making choices which fit your lifestyle and your family. Sure you can ask for opinions/suggestions but you do not have to adopt them. I thoroughly enjoy both channels and I can’t wait to see the next episode.
I watched Sabrina waaaaay back in the day when she’d do music videos with her friend! So at least one person was watching back then lol, and now I’m 32 and I’m tuned in again which is so fun.
Great Q and A, I also live in Ontario Canada. I also love to build , renovate, and decorate. I love how real you are. Andrew and his cabinet making skills are impressive. I can not wait to see the tutorial. It's a lazy Sunday afternoon for me, so I think I am going to binge watch. What part of Ontario do you guys live?
You guys are both so sweet! I think you are BOTH hilarious, but I could absolutely see an HGTV show editing to make more friction between you both. Yuck, no thanks. Love seeing you in this relaxed format--what about a podcast that you film for YT?
I guess you could say you don’t believe in forever homes 😁 Love long talky video! as you said, they are sometimes just nice to listen to (although for yours it’s also fun to watch because so much is said with facial expressions/reactions😊) I’d definitely listen to a podcast! I wonder what it would be about though. Maybe behind the scenes/bloopers. The sit down sessions was great!
I listened to an interview which Jordon Peterson did with the leader of your opposition party and he outlined the costs of building and permits. Sounds horrifically expensive. I’m from S Africa. ❤
I would watch regardless, tiny homes, current home reno. you mentioned you may have been offered work for your neighbors, I would still be happy to watch that if your neighbor didn't mind :D
There is a couple in the Southern U.S. that have a UA-cam channel that is called Renovation Nation. They buy and redo historical houses and also tour historical houses. They know a lot about the architecture of homes a 100+ old.
I think there is a market for “alternative” living options. The owning a home is financially out of reach for so many people. People are looking for solutions. I say go for it!
With Canada's housing crisis (like the US) I bet custom affordable tiny homes would work great for you. As long as you can make it nice and not like a cookie cutter trailer. I saw these ads for "tiny homes" that were really just single wide trailers with really standard builder grade materials. There were so many people in the comments wishing they could have one because houses by them are too expensive.
It's the labor that kills the budget in renovations. I did so much over the years myself to save money and get what I wanted! The cost of your labor would have been over the top!
Sabrina, you don't eat eggs?? Neither do I. I've never met anyone else who doesn't eat eggs. When someone asks me how I like my eggs, I always say in cookies or cake, lol!
I’m always so surprised how you don’t get millions of views on all your videos. Start a patreon! I’m sure you could help keep everything going with that :) Also maybe collab with Eamon and Bec, I’m pretty sure you guys live somewhat close and they renovated their whole cabin so you could ask them about that.
I’m not sure if it’s the lighting or not but it looks like the wall behind you by the stairs under the molding. It looks like you missed a couple spots when you painted. Your house is beautiful though.
stop ✨ I am obsessed with you both! I binged watched all your episodes and I am so amazed by you both. It’s insane the amount of work you did together. It looks amazing! How rewarding to say you were able to curate and literally BUILD your own home! truly shocked, amazed, & obsessed! not that my opinion matters but you all killed it! ✨🤍
Curious, do you also post your UA-cam videos to Facebook? You can toggle a professional account on there and make moolah too! My friend Brooke Ervin does this with cooking videos.

I’d watch any flipping or DIY content from the both of you. Trailers, ADUs, tiny houses.
HERE FOR IT!!!!! ALL OF IT!!!!

Awesome thanks for the feedback!
Also, renovating your existing house is cheaper in property taxes than building a new one. Property taxes in Canada are stupid
It is the same in the US. Some cities have a metro tax on new builds.
I wish you guys were making more off your content because it is next level! It’s like watching an HGTV show instead of a UA-cam video. Loving all your videos and you guys are so inspiring!! ❤

Please keep doing these very inspiring and motivating.
You have done an amazing stretching your renovation budget. The house is amazing. You all should be so proud to what you have accomplished.

Thank you for taking the time to watch! Good to know about tiny travel 👍🏼
Yes to the tiny homes question! That'd be a lot of fun. On board for anything you two take on. On the big screen lol. "Shtunnin'".
Thanks very much! We’re glad to hear this! 🙏
i would love the tiny home videos! all your stuff is so awesome and i'd watch!
I love watching you guys ✨❤️
Yes, there is a market for converted sprinter vans.

You guys could do a shipping container home!!! Those are popular in the US where I live!
Love the thought of yall building tiny homes/tiny community

Sabrina is freaking out over your comment you’re a real one!!!
So excited to see you guys again…have missed watching your going ons ❤
I think tiny home or travel trailer would be amazing to watch you build
My best friend’s dad has a mobile home business. In recent years, he’s transitioned almost completely into building and selling tiny homes.

tiu two cuties pies. 2 weeks okay. cant wait. 🎉🎉🎉🎉ahhh spring.😮❤❤❤❤
So glad you guys are getting some downtime... MUCH deserved! Although I can't wait for the videos to return ;)
I guess you could say you don’t believe in forever homes 😁

Great point thank you!

Andrew, do you do kitchen renos?
I have but nowadays it’s primarily outdoor work (fences, decks, gazebos etc)
It's the labor that kills the budget in renovations. I did so much over the years myself to save money and get what I wanted! The cost of your labor would have been over the top!
Sabrina, you don't eat eggs?? Neither do I. I've never met anyone else who doesn't eat eggs. When someone asks me how I like my eggs, I always say in cookies or cake, lol!
Yes!! That’s the perfect answer 😂 cookies and cakes only!!
Do your neighbors talk to you guys about how they like what you've done?
Tiny Homes are awesome BUT not with ladder lofts and only one bathroom. And of course most areas won't allow that type of home.
Alot of people watch your UA-cam videos on a TV with family :)
I live in northern Ontario and desperately want a tiny home.
What about something with bacon? *wife of the year*
Why buy a porch swing when you could build one?
Maybe you could call it “Ditched the Split” going forward,
I’m not sure if it’s the lighting or not but it looks like the wall behind you by the stairs under the molding. It looks like you missed a couple spots when you painted. Your house is beautiful though.
I would think that two dogs are plenty.
They didn't flip the house, they renovated their home. House flipping is not what this is.
I'd watch you flip just about anything...
