My friend next door had this in the early 80s, when we were 10 or 11. When I moved away he gave to me as a leaving gift and I still have it to this day (I’m now 50). I love this game, partly through nostalgia, but also because I think it’s still a really good game, with evocative artwork. I think it’s aged really well, considering. I picked up another copy on eBay recently, completely unpunched, as a backup but also because the board in the later prints was in a single folding piece, rather than three. Thanks for the video. 🙂
Thanks for your video. I've owned this game since it first came out. I think it's aged pretty well except the army chits, which can be hard to pick up but still perform their function well. It's a pretty cool game overall despite its age. Played it all the time, and I think it's better than Risk. I have a 2nd copy that is is unpunched but not in shrinkwrap. Thanks again for the very nice video highlighting this Avalon Hill classic🙂
There is an Apple 2 PC game called Dark Forest which I played int he early 1980s which is basically Wizards quest(with a bunch of modifications of the map) ported over to PC form. Plays pretty much the same as Wizards quest complete with the dragon. Im surprised Sirius softwre the publishers of Dark Forest were not sued by Avalon hill.
I still have my SECOND copy in shrink wrap. Yep, bought two when it came out :-) Time to break the old one out for replay. Thanks for reminding me! No need to buy that next Kickstarter!
Thank you for doing this Blast from the past....I know that I have that game and have not played it myself. I know my eldest brother purchased it new and I am sure I have it in a tote somewhere. I will have to look for it now. I would love to see someone come up with an ONLINE version of it. I play Catan Universe instead of Catan tabletop only since COVID. I prefer the table top games which I have played my entire life. I am presently 53 and have sum 40 plus table top games to my name. Thank you again. I will update you if and when I find my copy and if I can get people to play it with me.

We discovered this game a short while ago, and it has become our favorite fantasy-themed war game.
It is good to know that it still holds up! I have not had the opportunity to get it back to the table. I would like to though.
