It only took me like 6 years to figure why this keyboard never synced properly. I appreciate you for this so much bro. Thanks.
Your welcome!!
Bro... you saved me hours! 😅👍🏻
😮✊🏻
Dude im sayin! Im stoked that this video is still helping people! Glad I could assist!
Thank You Bro...I have been trying to figure this out for months. Your Awesome
Your welcome my dude! Glad I could help!
Thank you - I do not have an MPK2, instead I have an Arturia Minibrute 2S with a great Sequencer on board - I could not figure out how to do this and searching for it does not come back with anything useful - this worked perfectly for me, thank you
Wow thats awesome man Im glad i could help!
for those having trouble using Play / Stop / Rec, before or after this video; unplug and reconnect the Akai, then it should work. 😊
Thank you!
Life saver 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
I got halfway through and realized that reason was a software. I basically made it so my arpeggiator doesn't work at all, but my mpk 249 gets sounds when the arppegiator is off. Any tips on how to fix my stupid mistake?
Dope What If You Have An MPK and A MPD How Would You Set Both
Mines only work if I set my global settings to “internal”
Dude...I've been trying to do this for 11yrs(Since Reason 4)!!!!! 🤦🏾♂️ I got rid of 2 MPK's bc I didn't know how!
Syncing "Tap tempo" is an issue too!
Too bad these features don't "Auto Sync" once you select the preset(w/out touching any settings).
@@grimacebocephus Agreed!
Thanks bro
bro thanks but how do i get the stop play and rec buttons to work? everything else is working but that
I just recently switched back to reason and I can not get the transport buttons to work for shit in reason 12. It has to be a reason thing Im assuming. I have tried everything but nothing I do seems to work out : / fyi my mpk249 took a shit so i canned it. Now I use a roland a49 and the atom sq. the sq transport does not work properly in reason 12.
will this work on mpk225
Dude how do I link the rec stop and play ? I have the mpk 249 and reason 11 but o can't get the stop rec. And play to lol...please heeeellpppp!!! Lol
I cant remember off hand but I will plug my mpk back in later today and refresh my memory. Whats your email i shoot a quick video to you.
ok so i plugged my mpk249 in again and wiped out the mapping I had to start over. I followed this video step by step and its works perfectly as usual. Make sure you follow each step, it should work.

@tommy Trenton I appreciate it buddy thanks
Wholly Shit! 🤟🏽
Can you tell me how to get the rec/play button to sync to reason?
Just select the “Reason” preset
Or Do You Just Switch Them As You Need Them
Great vid....will this work on the Akai MPK Mini?
As far as I know, no. The mini doesn't have a screen so it would be a different setup method. I think it comes with its out routing software. I think.
@@TommyTrentonJr I just figured it out! Thanks
@@lawrencedavis2015 Cool I have the MPK but I also have the Mini sept I haven't even used it yet.
@@lawrencedavis2015 Please tell me how. I have the LPK, MPK, and MPK2. I set the arp to external. I went to reason and set the output midi clock to the keyboards, I turned on send clock and I get nothing when the arp is triggered. When I turn off the arp It works again. Am I missing something?
How to do it on a mpk225? I followed each step , but it still isn’t working....
should be the same process
Will this also work if your instrument runs through an audio interface?
I have never used midi cables I only use usb so Im not sure about the midi setup. Why not just use usb?
@@TommyTrentonJr Well, the audio interface is connected with a usb to my computer and my synth is connect with midi cables to the audio interface. Some instruments don't have a usb connection
Vicious Suspicious haha I’m aware that most instruments do not connect with usb. This video is about the mpk249 which is a usb midi keyboard controller. It controls vst instruments installed on your computer. You have watched the wrong tutorial. Try looking up a tutorial about your synthesizer and how to connect it and how to sync the midi clock with your computer software.
Yes, just select the name of the midi port you are using on your interface when setting the midi clock output. Usually it's just the name of your interface.
Would you happen to know how to do this in Studio one? .this is awesome .
I actually use Studio One too! I love Studio One its god. Although I have not been able to figure out a way to sync midi from the MPK2 to Studio One to make the Note Repeat or the Arp work. BUT Studio one has a built-in note repeat!!! AND Arpeggiator!!!
If you look at the Transport in S1, look to the right of loop button right next to the sync button on the right, you will see a little gear, click that.
This is your Record Mode, Instrument Loop Record, and Note Repeat controls.
Right next to where is it says note repeat you'll see a wrench, click that to open full control of Note Repeat.
In my opinion, this is actually better than using the midi keyboard features. Way better. Ok now for the Arpeggiator.
-----------------------------------------------
Studio One has a built-in Arpeggiator as well.
To make this simple, I found this video on youtube that will show you how to do this in Studio One. Its very easy to understand and completely straightforward! ua-cam.com/video/5JsQvedJvUs/v-deo.html
@@TommyTrentonJr thanks man really appreciate your help with this. 🙌🏽
