One thing I'll say about Swordsoul, is that (as the swordsoul tenyi player) games can feel close even if I don't draw that great. That's the nice thing about having a low floor, you can have plays even if your starting hand isn't very good. Ironically the part I struggle with most is the follow up, since it has some really bad turn 3 engine cards (Taia being the only decent one). Also, the Tenyi cards can do a lot for you going second, which do a lot for you in a game where you don't have a side deck. Everyone has a plan until you special summon Vishuda.

I just queued up against a SHS player who only ended on Baronne, Naturia Beast, and Therion „King“ Regulus (not also Apollousa; they actually had four pieces of Link material left but maybe they locked themselves into something), which proved no match for Vishuda and double Evenly Matched. Blessed be the people who design cards such as Evenly Matched and, when asked whether it should have a hard once-per-turn clause, respond „Once-per-turn? Why would it need to be once-per-turn?“

I play a blind going second build and I wrecked a full mannadium board so I feel the deck is strong it just lacks follow up, maybe Konami can make a card to fix that

Swordsoul was fair on release, not counting Protos of course. Everything the deck does is beatable, it's just consistent and fairly strong. Unfortunately, it's turn 1 board isn't good enough nowadays without drawing non engine. Other decks simply build bigger boards, have as much follow up if not more, and are now more or less just as competent going second.
Swordsoul was never particularly crazy outside Protoss Call Dark. People just hated it due to the supreme consistency that non-meta decks were helpless against and its absurd ubiquity at the time.
Honestly I think dogmatika might have an arguement for tier 3 or rogue at this point in time Or at the very least the nadir engine It’s a little extra deck space heavy but you cannot deny that a draw, a bounce, and 2 negates off of a spell card is pretty great

I found Branded to be a fairly easy matchup as Bystial Runick. I would run them out of resources or stop them from playing the majority of the time. As a runick deck you just get a lot of access to maxx c and ash which they don't play through well as a 60 card pile. Going second into them isn't too bad because their endboard doesn't have actual negates, it's usually just a couple pieces of monster removal.
Albion and Mirrorjade should be limited. Problem with Branded is the insane recursion, combined with the fact they have like 15 cards that all do the same thing, but with different names. So either hit their consistency (meh), limit their endboards, or slow their recursion. Also, superpoly should just be banned.
Purrely Spright is still amazing for Best of 1 match... Can play around handtraps... Easily switch between Purrely & Spright line... 60cards but 80% engines... But nobody care Only lose when going 2nd w/o handtraps vs SHS (well pretty much just like every other deck right now)... If you don't mind check this, "This Deck is Toxic? Nonono We Call it, Purrely Spright & Skill Issue! [Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel]"
I’ve been playing Traptrix and i think it’s honestly good for the same reasons as labyrinth. Droll is almost useless, plays around nib, can play ok around Maxx c if you only end with sera and has a lot of space for going second cards. It also plays well into bagooska and with bagooska which i found hurts a lot of decks. I think it’s only problem is consistency but its def like tier 2 imo
I dont think he's ever played the deck and has only played against it a small handful of times, if that, so he doesn't really have a solid grasp of it's pros and weaknesses
I think traptrix is only not weak to droll if you already have all the pieces in your hand to do the combo, but yeah I'm much more afraid of getting my normal summon negated or destroyed than a droll. Just for that I think traptrix is more of a tier 3 deck maybe highest in tier 3.
I'd say Traptrix was at its best a few months ago when the meta was the kash-cat-lab trinity. It plays well into lab so you can tech all the hate for the other two, making going 2nd not awful at all. Today, the meta is more diverse so it's hard to find the right tech, plus the branded match-up is brutal even when going first.

Also daruma karma cannon and dimensional barrier are effective against traptrix even if they are traps and that has been my experience everytime i faced lab. When Kashtira dropped I actually dug for Rescue Ace as an investment. I'm dying for their support to start releasing, or at least Unchained as a budget friendly deck. If not, I have to spend my gems before they start expiring and I'll probably look at Labrynth.
I was so excited when Ace released. Spent my gems making the deck and realized it definitely needs the support cards for sure. I'm also waiting on the unchained cards to release since it was so cheap to craft
I'm a big Rikka player in TCG, and in the past I never tried it on MD (partially because Maxx C as you say), but this month I made the Master 1 with Rikka and it changed my mind a bit. If you pick any deck in the format (except for Labrynth), anyway you don't want to take Maxx C, so it doesn't matter if the opponent draw 5 or 20 cards, this is a game you loose. Even Vanquish soul is a deck I played a lot in master duel, and you still let your opponent draw 3 if you combo optimally (so you're at big disadvantage, and else you don't play optimally so same thing). 1st thing : as every deck you have staple to counter maxx c (and other deck still loose if they take maxx c) 2nd thing : I still won many games through maxx c because Rikka sunavalon is not only about the sunavalon bullshit combo, but you can also still summon a Mudan, add konkon and set sheet, making your opponent only draw 1 (and even better if you have princess, maybe also 1 staple). And the konkon / sheet is really broken. 3rd thing : rikka sunavalon is not that susceptible to Droll, it's only if you open the rikka part without the sunavalon combo. The sunavalon 1 card combo naturally sets up 3 interruptions through Droll, and then it also depends the rest of your hand. Even Shifter which is good against Rikka, still doesn't stop you having 2 or 3 interruptions, but it stops your grind game contrary to droll which is less impactful. So yeah this month I really changed my mind about the place of Rikka in MD, but I mean this is the same thing as in TCG, players just don't play this deck even though it's good.
josh validating my decision to stop playing numeron otk right after the new superheavy samurai support dropped back on traptrix now and it's been interesting. I've actually managed to win most of my games vs lab, which I kinda didn't initially expect (though I'll still contend that lab is certainly the better trap deck overall), though it's also had some of my most intensely fun games of this season too, which was pleasantly surprising branded, I basically have to pray the opponent just quits. shs, like everyone else, I have to pray that I drew the out
Purrly lower than kash is absurd to me considering the consitency and as you mentioned with lab, discarding unused handtraps is a big advantage right now. You are digging so deep into your deck and still easily get a +4 in stand by and multiple spins + one of the best towers in the game if you want
Play something else. Traptrix is not competitive at all except for locals kiddies... Fire king is cheap and actually good. There are also a ton of other good decks that aren't toxic and braindead like Traptrix.
When traptrix gets the ball rolling it can be pretty good, butthats ifyou get the ball rolling. Being a trap deck it naturally doesn't give too much of a shit about droll, but it's going second game, as any other trap deck that isnt Lab with cooclock in hand, is lacking. Gonna need blowout cards like evenly to stand a chance.

Speaking to the original commenter, being fairer to Traptrix, it's just very linear most of the times and as the other can be easily stopped; even just imperming sera first turn hurts the deck terribly and can even basically guarantee a win if the traptrix player bricked hard enough (or still slow down their grind heavily). I had more fun with puretrix and HAT than current Traptrix honestly, especially since the structure released and it gained massive traction. Deck is too common and associated with creeps (I mean, before too, but especially now) and annoying teens with an hentai mat at locals that don't actually want to learn combos since the deck is so easy to pick up.

I havent played it at all, mainly cause it had too many URs for what it does imo, but its a competent deck if you dont get Maxx‘ed, probably high Tier 3
Trap decks in general are fairly well positioned in the current meta. Most people are playing a ton of SHS hate and that does almost nothing to Lab and other decks. Honourable mentions go to Traptrix and Dinomorphia which imo are the best positioned trap decks that aren’t Lab.
man ive been playing runick bystial with 2 fountains in the tcg event and it feels soooo good chainblocking with hugin and discarding maybe a duality or a ringowurm to get that lvl2 tuner. unlucky master duel players still hate runick

I actually made a deck like that for the zero extra deck event. I also put in a few boss monsters like the Archnemeses cards and Orbital Hydralander to push for game. It was a pretty fun deck overall.
What would your opinion be for Live Twin Spright? There was only 1 Spright deck listed and wonder if it was the only one worth mentioning or was it included as a Runick variant. I play Live Twin Spright a lot and it can play around or through droll depending on what was searched and has a lot of space for non engine for the meta decks so would be interesting to see your take on it considering the current format
Tournament results wise, twin spright is the best spright deck. Not using runick means you can play around droll more freely, bystials is playaroundable with gigantic and elf, deck lines are simple and linear enough that you can just dedicate your brain power to just decision making and none engine techs, but the simple lines are unfair enough that you can just auto wins with gryphon lock and two plus interruptions, grind game is decent. Non engine wise, you can easily run eighteen minimum, drnm is decent in the deck since four mats Zeus line is super easy to do with the deck
master duel lab really shows us that trap decks the concept in yugioh is right now well positioned. it is neither oppressive i flip purple continuous cards until you can no longer legally put cardboard on the field and also not the go first win go second lose type of deck. maybe cards like feather duster should be banned again as it clearly makes siding into trap decks to strong to a point where trap decks only could be could if they devolve into a gameplay "loop" that we don't want to be part of yugioh.
Thoughts on Tear Mannadium? I do agree that Pure Mannadium can suffer from droll and maxx c which is why I think Tear Mannadium when built correctly, is better than pure Mannadium as, similarly to Branded you have alot more lines you can do depending on different situations. Also Tear Mannadium can still play under droll thanks to the Tear cards. Sadly this deck is super expensive which may be the cause of it´s lower representation, but I can imagine the deck being a potential Tear 1. (Maybe try it on stream?)
A deck I have been playing on and off with success on MD is Live Twin, or rather Runick Live Twin. It is consistent with 1 card starters, the Runick spells can serve as extenders, disruption, and board breakers, and the deck still has room to play Maxx C, Ash and Droll. It does not have a high ceiling, and you can see only 1 part of your deck at times, but personally I have found the deck to be good enough to deal with most decks when it goes both first and second. What are your throughts on it?
Its wild how people still cope with Tearlament. As soon as they hit Merle I disenchanted all the Tearlament cards (except the generic/ishizu cards since I knew they would eventually get banned). No point in putting resources into that deck anymore. It was fun while it lasted.
sadge no mikanko. I like it personally, gets to master decently well. gamma goes really well in mikanko, and recently i've been running lava golem and sphere mode over kaijus. sphere mode is 0/0 sure but outing the board matters more and very often, decks that are sphere mode-able also have a good target in grave to summon off of fire dance to crash into. metalsilver also goes very hard into SHS because soulpiercer and soulpiecemaker can't activate under metalsilver, since they target their own monster
I think a very slept on Tier 2 deck is Satellarknights, Diamond solos Branded and is very strong against Lab, the deck mostly doesn't care about Droll, can run outs to Maxx C and aforementioned handtraps to deal with SHS.
What do you think about scareclaw?? I know going 2nd is rough atm but I’m just curious on what you think of the deck along with the synergies with the other visas lore decls
From what I've seen, we'll probably need rescue ace to change the top of the meta, I don't see infernoble or mannadium changing things that much unless they hit SHS, branded and Lab.
for real though, Dinos are the strongest they've ever been with Ground Xeno. Yes there are no 1 card combos, but having a second from-hand special summon is a big deal for them. My list plays a small dinomorphia package ( 3 therizia, 1 diplos, 1 domain) and I've found that saves a lot of brick hands as Therizia is immune to everything but imperm going first and Rexterm is a very nice plan B (or topper to your combo).
@@TheghostofTimmy Diplos is a brick tho, and therizia is an extra normal summon you don't really need. I think both decks are better pure (or rather dino with xeno, and dinomorphia with zarc)
@@luka3933 Diplos is a soft brick really, you can still use him for the fusion in hand so although drawing him is suboptimal it's not game-ending. Therizia works as both a combo finisher (I've cut the traditional Giant Rex as the final pop dababy target) and as a NS under droll/maxx c or if misc gets ashed. IMO trading 1 negate for greater resiliency and a skill drain is worth it. And lets be honest here, if you don't draw the unsearchable Ground Xeno you're just playing old dinos, which is powerful but also extremely fragile to interruption or bad openers.
@@TheghostofTimmy the scenario where you ns therizia to play around maxx c is non existant. For misc getting ashed it only works if you open exactly misc + baby/petite + therizia which seems unlikely. For droll you'd have to get drolled without using your normal summon (and have theri in hand) or open misc/archo + baby/petite, go cl1 baby cl2 droll and summon theri. Droll can be played around with archo+baby anyway, and there are other combos with lost world or ground xeno for example that play around it too. Therizia does not combo with any other card in the deck (except i guess you can make a rank 4 with oviraptor), and on it's own it only goes rex pass, which isn't worth 5 main deck slots + 2 extra deck slots. Abyss Actors feel crazy to me whenever I play them, if you draw right you can set up a special summon 5 abyss actors or draw 5 card monster negate, and they have at least 2 1 card combos, and 2 very good starters, plus an in archetype searchable change of heart. Why do Abyss Actors suck?
I'm surprised you haven't been seeing mannadium. I see it just as much as branded in master. Personally I think the deck is better than shs based on my own experience. It's feels much harder to stop
I just play a couple kaiju mixes or gate guardian. It’s fun and can win. I don’t have the money to buy some of the top meta decks or the time to slowly open packs to build them, I’d rather just enjoy the game

Very hot take. I think this does not reflect the tier in top master at all. SHS is not even that popular (cause in best of 1, you literally just hope your opp does not open maxx/droll/nib. And sometimes a single well placed ash stops entire turn). Branded, lab, mathmech are definitely top 3 you gonna meet. Gold pride is .... Too many bricks for little payoff? Very rare to see, if at all And stun is not bad going 2nd. All the traps are powerful enough to break boards. Even pachy is a board breaker in a sense. SHS, for example, cant do anything on stun players turn, and by the next turn, most trap opens, and the board breaks fast
What about dino? Thera is a master duel central list that ends with elf baron colossus and tyranno, and we know how good an untargettable colossus is. And most of all have you read misc?
All these decks are being considered broken, busted, or OP, and Konami still has Infernity on the Ban list with 2 Launcher. I want my 3rd Launcher back so I can run the deck consistently!! Even with 3 Launcher, I'd doubt it would magically turn the deck tier 0, maybe tier 3 or 2 hell, maybe even 1, but that's a reach for the deck.

quit the tcg and returned to master duel after 2 years and was genuinely surprised to find branded was meta. my favorite deck
i personally love to watch v-soul and branded gameplay, as both are very skill intensive. especially the branded mirror with bystials can get crazy

Purrly lower than kash is absurd to me considering the consitency and as you mentioned with lab, discarding unused handtraps is a big advantage right now. You are digging so deep into your deck and still easily get a +4 in stand by and multiple spins + one of the best towers in the game if you want

Play something else. Traptrix is not competitive at all except for locals kiddies... Fire king is cheap and actually good. There are also a ton of other good decks that aren't toxic and braindead like Traptrix.
When traptrix gets the ball rolling it can be pretty good, butthats ifyou get the ball rolling. Being a trap deck it naturally doesn't give too much of a shit about droll, but it's going second game, as any other trap deck that isnt Lab with cooclock in hand, is lacking. Gonna need blowout cards like evenly to stand a chance.

@@iamtearabyte4595 Yeah actually I've been playing Traptrix for years, I just wanted to spread misinformation honestly. Speaking to the original commenter, being fairer to Traptrix, it's just very linear most of the times and as the other can be easily stopped; even just imperming sera first turn hurts the deck terribly and can even basically guarantee a win if the traptrix player bricked hard enough (or still slow down their grind heavily).
I had more fun with puretrix and HAT than current Traptrix honestly, especially since the structure released and it gained massive traction. Deck is too common and associated with creeps (I mean, before too, but especially now) and annoying teens with an hentai mat at locals that don't actually want to learn combos since the deck is so easy to pick up.

I havent played it at all, mainly cause it had too many URs for what it does imo, but its a competent deck if you dont get Maxx‘ed, probably high Tier 3
Trap decks in general are fairly well positioned in the current meta. Most people are playing a ton of SHS hate and that does almost nothing to Lab and other decks. Honourable mentions go to Traptrix and Dinomorphia which imo are the best positioned trap decks that aren’t Lab.
You should build a new deck on MD and walk us through your process like the tcg video, then have an epic duel against TeamSamuraiX1

I actually made a deck like that for the zero extra deck event. I also put in a few boss monsters like the Archnemeses cards and Orbital Hydralander to push for game. It was a pretty fun deck overall.

What would your opinion be for Live Twin Spright? There was only 1 Spright deck listed and wonder if it was the only one worth mentioning or was it included as a Runick variant. I play Live Twin Spright a lot and it can play around or through droll depending on what was searched and has a lot of space for non engine for the meta decks so would be interesting to see your take on it considering the current format
Tournament results wise, twin spright is the best spright deck. Not using runick means you can play around droll more freely, bystials is playaroundable with gigantic and elf, deck lines are simple and linear enough that you can just dedicate your brain power to just decision making and none engine techs, but the simple lines are unfair enough that you can just auto wins with gryphon lock and two plus interruptions, grind game is decent. Non engine wise, you can easily run eighteen minimum, drnm is decent in the deck since four mats Zeus line is super easy to do with the deck
Branded and Lab need some hits. Plus a circular ban.
What do you think about rank 7 strategies like dragon rulers/ tomahawk turbo and kashtira?
Kashtira is decent although bricky, the other Rank7/Tomahawk spam decks are just worse combo decks than SHS/Mannadium

Dinomorphia with Z-ARC was the easiest master 1 climb I have done. Going 2nd with 9x counter traps works really well.

master duel lab really shows us that trap decks the concept in yugioh is right now well positioned. it is neither oppressive i flip purple continuous cards until you can no longer legally put cardboard on the field and also not the go first win go second lose type of deck. maybe cards like feather duster should be banned again as it clearly makes siding into trap decks to strong to a point where trap decks only could be could if they devolve into a gameplay "loop" that we don't want to be part of yugioh.
Thoughts on Salad? It doesn't care about droll and ending on Bagooska actually messes with a decent number of decks this format.

Thoughts on Tear Mannadium?
I do agree that Pure Mannadium can suffer from droll and maxx c which is why I think Tear Mannadium when built correctly, is better than pure Mannadium as, similarly to Branded you have alot more lines you can do depending on different situations. Also Tear Mannadium can still play under droll thanks to the Tear cards.
Sadly this deck is super expensive which may be the cause of it´s lower representation, but I can imagine the deck being a potential Tear 1. (Maybe try it on stream?)
Branded feels like the best to play. Far less counters to it being mained currently and it has a great matchup into like almost everything.
You can play around droll with Superheavy you just build your board until you get Baronne out but playing around droll is risky

A deck I have been playing on and off with success on MD is Live Twin, or rather Runick Live Twin. It is consistent with 1 card starters, the Runick spells can serve as extenders, disruption, and board breakers, and the deck still has room to play Maxx C, Ash and Droll. It does not have a high ceiling, and you can see only 1 part of your deck at times, but personally I have found the deck to be good enough to deal with most decks when it goes both first and second. What are your throughts on it?

Its wild how people still cope with Tearlament. As soon as they hit Merle I disenchanted all the Tearlament cards (except the generic/ishizu cards since I knew they would eventually get banned). No point in putting resources into that deck anymore. It was fun while it lasted.

sadge no mikanko. I like it personally, gets to master decently well. gamma goes really well in mikanko, and recently i've been running lava golem and sphere mode over kaijus. sphere mode is 0/0 sure but outing the board matters more and very often, decks that are sphere mode-able also have a good target in grave to summon off of fire dance to crash into.
metalsilver also goes very hard into SHS because soulpiercer and soulpiecemaker can't activate under metalsilver, since they target their own monster

I think a very slept on Tier 2 deck is Satellarknights, Diamond solos Branded and is very strong against Lab, the deck mostly doesn't care about Droll, can run outs to Maxx C and aforementioned handtraps to deal with SHS.

Scareclaw kash is crazy strong. It's got plenty of room for format handtraps and some going second cards. You can easily play it going first as well
From what I've seen, we'll probably need rescue ace to change the top of the meta, I don't see infernoble or mannadium changing things that much unless they hit SHS, branded and Lab.

What is your opinion on dino and dinomorphia? I never really hear you mention them in streams or videos
for real though, Dinos are the strongest they've ever been with Ground Xeno. Yes there are no 1 card combos, but having a second from-hand special summon is a big deal for them. My list plays a small dinomorphia package ( 3 therizia, 1 diplos, 1 domain) and I've found that saves a lot of brick hands as Therizia is immune to everything but imperm going first and Rexterm is a very nice plan B (or topper to your combo).
@@TheghostofTimmy Diplos is a brick tho, and therizia is an extra normal summon you don't really need. I think both decks are better pure (or rather dino with xeno, and dinomorphia with zarc)
@@luka3933 Diplos is a soft brick really, you can still use him for the fusion in hand so although drawing him is suboptimal it's not game-ending. Therizia works as both a combo finisher (I've cut the traditional Giant Rex as the final pop dababy target) and as a NS under droll/maxx c or if misc gets ashed. IMO trading 1 negate for greater resiliency and a skill drain is worth it.
And lets be honest here, if you don't draw the unsearchable Ground Xeno you're just playing old dinos, which is powerful but also extremely fragile to interruption or bad openers.
@@TheghostofTimmy the scenario where you ns therizia to play around maxx c is non existant. For misc getting ashed it only works if you open exactly misc + baby/petite + therizia which seems unlikely. For droll you'd have to get drolled without using your normal summon (and have theri in hand) or open misc/archo + baby/petite, go cl1 baby cl2 droll and summon theri. Droll can be played around with archo+baby anyway, and there are other combos with lost world or ground xeno for example that play around it too. Therizia does not combo with any other card in the deck (except i guess you can make a rank 4 with oviraptor), and on it's own it only goes rex pass, which isn't worth 5 main deck slots + 2 extra deck slots. Abyss Actors feel crazy to me whenever I play them, if you draw right you can set up a special summon 5 abyss actors or draw 5 card monster negate, and they have at least 2 1 card combos, and 2 very good starters, plus an in archetype searchable change of heart.

I think this does not reflect the tier in top master at all. SHS is not even that popular (cause in best of 1, you literally just hope your opp does not open maxx/droll/nib. And sometimes a single well placed ash stops entire turn).
Branded, lab, mathmech are definitely top 3 you gonna meet.
Gold pride is .... Too many bricks for little payoff? Very rare to see, if at all
And stun is not bad going 2nd. All the traps are powerful enough to break boards. Even pachy is a board breaker in a sense. SHS, for example, cant do anything on stun players turn, and by the next turn, most trap opens, and the board breaks fast

All these decks are being considered broken, busted, or OP, and Konami still has Infernity on the Ban list with 2 Launcher. I want my 3rd Launcher back so I can run the deck consistently!! Even with 3 Launcher, I'd doubt it would magically turn the deck tier 0, maybe tier 3 or 2 hell, maybe even 1, but that's a reach for the deck.
