Congratulations on completing 2nd year! 🎉 Your passion for nursing gave me the little nudge I needed to apply to do my nursing (started in September) so thank you for sharing your experiences with us. Can’t wait for your 3rd year videos!
the tenda life Aw that’s so amazing to hear!! Thank you so much! I’m so chuffed you’ve started now. This is fantastic honestly. I hope you have an amazing journey ❤️ It can feel so overwhelming at the start and like information over load but suddenly it will all just click I promise. And when you start putting that theory into practice is such a nice feeling ❤️ I’m excited for you!!! Will you Vlog / Blog? :)
Congratulations, Claire! I’m so proud of you! You truly are amazing; I’m always looking forward to see and hear more of your next stage of your journey ♥️🦋✨ xxx
Great video Claire! Love following along, great experiences you are having. I'm currently on a hospital placement, starting 1430-2300 shifts tomorrow! SEND HELP
I’m a first year (May start) going on my second placement tomorrow and I’m so nervous I love watching your videos definitely gives me motivation and inspiration to keep going
@@ClaireCarmichael My next placement is on a renal transplant ward. Very nervous about it When you first started placement in year 1 how did you control your emotions and not get too attached to patients?
Chandice Bailey Oooh that will be so good to see!!! You’ll probably get the chance to go down to theatres to watch that too. How exciting! I’ve never seen a transplant before. I’d love to see that. It’s really hard to detach yourself from the patients I find. If I’m on placement and feel like I’m getting emotional I just pause for a second, take a deep breath and keep going. You have to be the strong one for the patient. But as soon as I leave the building, I reflect a lot and that’s when I get emotional. I don’t think I’ll ever detach that part. It makes us human ❤️ as horrible as it is to be so upset for the patients, I wouldn’t change it. I have seen some nurses who appear to have their emotions switched off and can come across as quite tough and harsh with patients and I don’t want to be that person. That’s not me ❤️ x
Claire Carmichael I’m really excitedly for this placement there’s so much to learn and to see so the Spokes will be amazing. Definitely excited to go to theatre just hope I don’t faint 😂 Yeah my first placement was okay when it comes to me not getting really attached to patients because it was more patients improving then deteriorating but I know this next placement will probably be the opposite but I’m an emotional person so I guess it just comes with time Thank you so much x
Chandice Bailey just make sure you eat and drink something before you head down there and you’ll be fine 🎉🤣 I have heard of students fainting tho. I loved theatres! I’m glad first placement was good for you. I think renal transplant might be tougher to be honest. Any surgery is quite risky as it is, but your renal system is so important. Well it all is really 🙈 I’m guessing the patients on that ward are going to be quite poorly afterwards. Strict fluid balance charts and observations I bet! I’m not 100% sure because I’ve never worked on a renal ward. But just going from my surgical placements, this is what they do there. And that’s not even renal 🙈 so everything is going to be a lot more thorough I think there maybe. X
Hi, I’m starting in May. I’m just wondering if you are able to be flexible with the shifts you work? I have a son so I’m just worrying about shifts and making sure I can do it on days I have child care?
Most people on my course have children and they've all managed amazingly thankfully :) Usually mentors are quite flexible, just speak to them when you start and see what they say. x
I also finished my last placement in second year this week. Since you have interest in becoming a practice nurse, what are you going to do in your third year placement, like are you going to request for Practice Nurse placement or what do you intend to do..
Estella Kafful yay! Well done!! I’ve applied for the community rotation programme for third year 😍 Which means I’ll be out in the community for both placements 😍 I can’t wait! I wasn’t sure if you could request GP for your management. I do need to check this
The patient with dementia who’s husband had died do you think you could say to her you will meet again one day and you will be the happiest person in the world! Or do you think that’s not a nice thing to say? I think it is but you know what I mean 😫😥 wee soul x
Can I just say though the way you wear your hair is the way we wear it in the military anyway the look totally suits you I think it may trying to tell you something :P xx
Claire Carmichael I think this is why! You would be great in it as long as your happy just working with mainly young men it’s not as varied working with the community unless you get based overseas xx
Loved this, and totally agree with you-that the meaningful moments are why we do this..💓
