Freezing Paintball Markers for Fun

- I left three paintball markers out in the cold for an hour just to see how they would perform in below freezing conditions.
Don't let the outcome of this exercise influence your opinion of any of these paintball markers. This was an experiment of opportunity since the weather had been so cold during the time of filming.
Also, it has been brought to my attention that the Luxe Idol eyes can be influenced by sunlight. Normally this isn't a problem while using a hopper, but I was using a 10 round tube, and this allowed enough light into the breach area to influence the eye readings. As a result, this led me to believe that the eye issue illustrated in this video to be temperature related when in fact they were not.
well done dude! videos entertaining! love it!
Thanks. I like your work too. 👍
NH here, my geo r5 has been fine all winter and it stays in the back of my truck
Nice backyard!
Should've base lined all the markers velocity (290ish) at room temp first
Yup, I agree. 20/20.
Great vid. Love the edit. Also the Idol eye fault may just be due to the bright sun, and the feed tube just having a clear tube stuck in. It was probably flooding the breech sensor and not "seeing" a ball.
I just tried this out and you're 100% right. I pointed the feed neck toward the sun, got a solenoid click, covered the feed neck with my hand, no click. Never thought that would be the case. 👍
The trix clearly had snow in the end of the barrel for the first few shots.
I'm not super sold on the oil through the asa. That worked ok on mechanical sear/blowback markers in the 90s. Seems like it would just wash the dow33 grease off your orings in the reg and solenoid. Possibly make a tacky mess that attracts dirt in these parts. You can service the solenoid spool on newer markers so it's not a big deal. On something you can't, no way. Dow33 is a base of oil, yes, but thickened to make a grease. So it stays on the orings longer.
First of all, not once did I say you should use oil drops in the ASA over what the manufacturer recommends for maintenance. If you don't like it, then don't do it to your equipment. Secondly, I knew people would complain about if I had lubed the markers or not, so the most fair chance I could give them was to add five oil drops in the ASA and blow it through each marker with 100 dry shots. Regardless of lubrication condition before the test they all got five drops and 100 shots. I'm just reporting on what I did before the test, not how to maintain paintball equipment long term.
@@BonusBaller585 Fair enough
the eyes of the Idol malfunction because of the light of the sun cumming in to the breach, which is not an issue when using a hopper.
Yup, I found that out after I posted the video. 👍
Don’t play much in the cold, last time I used a DP G5 and it shot hot. It had a lot to do with the lube. Dow 35 (and it’s related) does not seem to work well in the cold temps.
What does the oil in the Asa do, and is it recommend for pe markers
It's a quick way to circulate oil throughout the marker's internals but I do not recommend doing it in lieu of regular maintenance.
@ is it ok for the solenoid and stuff?
@@JP-om3ou Yes.
Which of the 3 do you prefer? It doesnt seem like you play tournaments so i won't ask specifics.
Sorry, you're going to have to wait for my reviews. Make sure you're subscribed. 😉
"Don't recommend this channel" 😉
Where was the solenoid flow restirctor set at on the DSR
It was in the middle. Medium dwell.
im confused, does dye still make the matrix? do they have lprs in their guns still?
No, not since the M2 in 2016 has Dye offered a traditional matrix as a flagship marker.
@BonusBaller585 that's really unfortunate.
Where can I get the outlast oil
Right here: candcsynthetics.com

In HS we used to freeze the paintballs before the games and destroy all the freshman with their spiders.
No you didn't. 🙄
Hahaha, one of *those* fake ass frozen paintball stories
