can't say he has a smartest lyric, but dealing with the feeling of loneliness and depression his lyrics for Alone really resonated with me, " Shifting light outlines my battered form.
Stranger to the world, alone in my abandonment.
A gaining army of white horses, stark warning before the icy front.
The deceiving calm betrays all signs of impeding change." These lines perfectly reflected how alone I felt and dealing with suicidal thoughts. Everything felt cold and dark and my suicide just felt like something creeping in. Even though to everyone I looked fine, I almost killed myself and barely survived. Thankfully I survived and have a much stronger and positive outlook on life but I will never forget how much that song meant to me.
Hope you're getting by man. Sorry to hear you've dealt with so much suffering. Onwards we go mate.
That's how I felt last week. I emotionally hit rock bottom. Pretending to be fine. Telling everyone I'm fine, just so they won't feel my pain, bc I didn't want them to know how I was feeling. I still struggle with it but trying to think more positive. Listening to Winstons lyrics makes me now try to help myself get over that. Ik the pain is still there but Its "either I could just die and not do anything about it and let the fear take over" or "die knowing I tried to overcome my fear and lonliness replacing it with more positive effort"

I'm gutted he avoided delving into actual lyrics he's written.. I image he's maybe embarrassed to actually say them out loud as it's such a personal thing but I'd love to know what he believes are his best. Ire is far from my favourite PWD album but I do think it features some of his best -

Stephen King (arguably one of the greatest writers in history) said a similar thing about his writing process:
"I never write ideas down right away, if I have an idea I'll keep it to myself, and if I still remember it weeks, months, or even years later, then I know it's gold, and that's when I'll write it down." or something along those lines.
Such a great band! If I had to choose their "smartest lyrics" ever written, I'd say it's their song Crushed. Writings on the Wall had some pretty sick lyrics too.
