Wow je ne savais pas que cette histoire était vrai quand j'ai juste vue la fin et pas tout le film je suis juste... It’s because of the chord progression. In a scale you have 8 chords.. if you go from a first chord to a third chord in a scale you will get that lost sound.. it is used in movies a lot to describe sadness, grief, etc.. it doesnt matter what scale you are in what matters is the chord progression.
